I have a Astra A-100 that I would like to have refinished to look like it did when I bought it.  While it is an excellent shooter, it is a daily carry weapon that needs some TLC in the looks department.  Who does this kind of work, how expensive is it and can I do it myself?

Thanks!

It would be fairly easy to spend more refinishing that gun than its worth.  You can do it yourself, but be careful here.  You can buy Gunkote in a spray can from Brownells, but it sucks.  Gunkote needs application with an airbrush to really work well.  If you own an airbrush, buy a small can of Gunkote, strip and degrease the gun, heat it, apply the Kote and bake for an hour at 325 and you'll have a very nice looking gun.

Brownells teflon moly is not bad.  Not the best but goes on easy and works well.  Another option might be alumahyde.  Also from Brownells.

Believe it or not, S&W offers a nice price on gun refinishing. I'd cal lthem & see what they can offer you? Might also ask Cylinder & Slide, see what and/or who they recommend?
