M&Ps aren't all that expensive unless you option them out. For extra savings, look at 40 S&W caliber offerings. 40 isn't going away, and is not on hiatus.

The P17 @ $170 is the best value in a .22 handgun. Probably also the most reliable thing made by KelTec

CZ P07. Every one I've had has been very accurate.
Note on the Arex Delta: be careful to keep your thumb away from the takedown latch. I've had the top end come off while shooting when I accidentally applied downward pressure on the takedown latch with my support thumb. The Stoeger Cougar, Beretta PX4 and APX, and the Ruger American are also good serviceable handguns that usually trade hands at a discount. |

One misfeed during the first 50 rounds, about 500 rounds later, no problems with FMJs, factory and reloads, or JHPs. One of best buys I’ve made, but the $269 near-new Glock 22 Gen 4 is the at the top. |

My $600 Tisas 9mm Raider has been fantastic for over 4,000 rounds now. Only change I made were the VZ grips and some tritium sights. The G10 grips it comes with are very good, I just wanted something very aggressive. I did end up swapping the mags out to the Vickers EDM 10 round mags but that wasn’t necessary, just more of a bullet proofing measure. I have thought about putting a magwell on it but I think I’m just going to keep it like it is. This $600 has out performed 1911s that cost three times as much. Forged slide and frame, CHF barrel, for $600-$650 is insane. I’m really excited for the Tisas 2011 especially at $850.

I don't think Tisas, or Canik are overlooked anymore.
Some of the most overlooked guns are the "budget " offerings from companies that the word "budget " isn't all that synonymous with. Sig SP2022 Beretta APX/APXa1 S&W SDV9 I have an APXa1, and an SP2022 and am surprised how good they are. |

Today's options and prices are amazing compared to when I first started looking in the early 2000's.
Glock and Springfield XD's for $500ish were about it. |

Some people buy cheap 40 caliber Glocks because there are inexpensive conversion barrels to shoot 9 mm out of them. I don't think the M&P has that luck. I believe I've read that the factory barrel can be swapped, but there's not really cheap aftermarket barrels available. |

View Quote It can, I've done it when I had a .40 M&P. This was back when Storm Lake was still making barrels and I considered buying a 9mm one for the .40 but decided not to, in the end. |

Pretty sure I'm gonna grab one of the Bubits designed Taurus TS9 while they are available now for around $225. Love Bubits design and the MecGar mags that Taurus ships with are top notch.

I really like the 2 Beretta APX A1 carry pistols I have, one was $180 after rebate. The other will be $225 after I get my rebate on it. Made in the USA, perfect size to carry and conceal, but still enough grip you can shoot it well.

The Zigana series is also imported by SDS. If you like traditional DA/SA all metal guns they are an affordable choice. I paid less than $300 for mine (F model, full-size) w/two 15 round mags. Some don't like slide-mounted safeties, but they don't bother me. Mine serves as one of the house guns. |

Ruger SR series. I bought a .45 from buds when they were blowing them out for maybe $250? Trigger nothing to write home about, but removing the mag safety helped. Ended up selling it for $350 a year later. A buddy a decade ago put i dont know how many cases through his SR9 with no complaints.
S&W Sigma series. Gets shit for heavy and long trigger. But they are reliable and competent shooters can deal with the trigger. |

Any glock or gen 1 M&P LE trade ins. You can buy a solid, reliable name brand pistol for sub $300 right now. I might pick up 1 or 2 more, but honestly focusing my money in other places as of late.

They get them in batches, just need to keep an eye out for when they get new ones in. |

Mossberg MC1SC, now superceded by MC2SC with proprietary metal mags. MC1 used G43 mags. 1000 rounds thru my MC1 without issue. Flat trigger is smoother than G43. DeSantis makes at least 5 diff holster models for it. $432ish. Optics ready.

EAA Witness P-S. I picked up a lightly used one a couple years ago at a pawn shop for $299 in the original box, with two 16 round magazines. And yes, I know you used to could get them new for around $250, but those days were long gone when I found this one. It’s a really nice shooter! I love how low the slide sits in the frame. The trigger, when it’s in single action is really light and crisp, and the reset is awesome. It’s pretty heavy, but it makes for a soft shooter.

That's well below wholesale. 3C has a much shorter trigger than the 2C. Buy it, throw it in a glovebox. |
