Recently had my P220 slide refinished in Gunkote (approx. 2 months ago) and I started to notice how the front/rear sights have started to rust.   Now I know they take em' off to do the finish work, plus they are night sights.......so the question is:

What do I do to remedy this?  Do I need to remove the sights completely, again?  The rust (color at least) is in the crack/joint where the dovetail marries up with the sight base.  Any suggestions/recommendations on what to do would be appreciated.
BTW I don't own a Sig Sight Pusher

I am not a gunsmith but have worked with corrosion problems on air craft for years. If you want to get all the corrosion of you will have to remove the sight because it is most likely under the sight also. Maybe you could try some penetrating oil but if it was something I had a lot of money in I would want to make sure. It sounds like when they degreased it they either did not treat the area when they were done with the coating process or they masked it off and left the sights on when they coated it. If they left the sights on and degreased it it is no wonder it is rusting and I would never send any thing to them again. However a nice polite call to the people who did it may solve your problems.
