CLP for quick cleans to get the majority of the carbon/copper off.

Hoppes cleaner and lube for deep cleans. Yea kinda redundant... I just have this thing about not fully trusting "all-in-one" products.

Brake or carb cleaner works well with no residue. I only use this on the steel only. Spray with CLP as light protectant then Lube with grease on load-bearing points.

Carb cleaner is NOT good for polymer frames.

Brake cleaner doesn't work well as a bore cleaner. I need something to dip my bore brush in & so forth.

Home made, Ed's Red. Google it up, costs around $28 to make a gallon.
the acetone it contains is harmful to most wood finishes).
Not exactly my idea of a useful solvent............
Unless you are slathering Ed's Red all over the stock and letting it soak, it will NOT harm wood finishes.

I have used it on my M1's for YEARS with no adverse effects.

Maybe you have. What I quoted was directly from the web site on how to mix it up.

I use CLP, Hopper, ALG go juice and cherry balmz, depending on application.

Hoppes#9 is still a great product for cleaning bores and such.

CLP is good multipurpose

ALG is good for an oil

Cherry Balmz is good for a grease

ETA - and breakfree powder blast on RARE occasions

Boresnakes occasionally on rifle Bores, pistol brush on pistol Bores and rifle chambers.

I just picked up a bottle of Hoppes Elite to try. What do you guys use on your blued and stainless revolvers?

I have always used Break Free CLP.  No complaints.  Seems to work well on all materials.

I branch out every now and then and try other ones.  Really wanted Ballistol to work, but the smell was just to obnoxious.  So far none of the others I have tried have worked as well.

The latest one I picked up, have not tried yet, is Enviroclean from Ogre Manufacturing.  Supposed to be biodegradable, no smell, and the maker is local.  Shop I got it from says it is all they use and it works just as well if not better than CLP.

We will see.

Just picked up a can of Eezox Synthetic Gun Oil. I'm gonna give it a try after reading good things about it.

Hoppe's #9.........after shooting non-corrosive ammo.  Or when cleaning copper fouling out of a bore.

Hot soapy water.........after shooting corrosive ammo.

After cleaning, it's a light coat of oil to protect the firearm.  Lately, I've been using Wal Mart syn motor oil.

Gun grease.........Super Tech (Wal Mart) Multi-duty complex or Super Lube syn grease (whatever is on the table at the moment).

Aloha, Mark

MPro-7.  No smell.  Cleans corrosives too. Cuts carbon and grease like no other.  Buy a gallon at Brownells. This is a cleaner, not a lube.

Makes a great drink with vodka.  (completely safe and biodegradable).

Gunslick foaming bore cleaner and MPro-7 everywhere else. However will probably replace MPro-7 when it's gone. Gotten too pricey. I haven't decided with what though.

Break Free CLP for lighter cleaning.

Sweets 7.62 if I manage to copper up a bore.
Not all that common on my various rifles.

90% Isopropyl Alcohol after J-B.

J-B Bore Paste after Alcohol.

For handguns with metal frames and removable grips Ed's Red for dunk cleaning.

You can filter the Ed's Red after letting it sit for solids to settle to the bottom.

I still use Molly coated bullets in the live varmint barrels.

Shooters Choice 50:50 with Kroil in those.

I do NOT remove all the Molly in the barrel.

A dry path and then fire one round.

Next shots will be back in place nicely even from a cold bore.

Most of the groundhogs have been shot at (and missed) often enough a person withing 300 yards and they are gone.
