I have a like new Dan Wesson 1911 that won't feed rounds. It looks like they hang on the extractor. I tried the original  Pointman mag and four different chip mccormick  mags with same results. If I feed a round into the camber then insert mag and fire half the time it works.
Any ideas? Should I send it in for repair?

Mine does that but only with  HP.  the flat nose seems to  get stuck on the feeding ramp.  But FMJ or round nose work fine..   Its not a carry  gun that is for sure. but i love how it shoots when it feeds.

check out this forum click here resident DW expert is Dave Severns, post the problem there. There is a memeber here that works for DW (it will Always be DW to me), maybe he will see this and chime in.

Dont worry your DW will be up and runing real soon.

Your ftf is almost certainly your extractor.  Look at this thread for an explanation of how to check extractor tension:
