I have a chance to come into a lightweight Defender in 9mm... any feedback on accuracy and reliability?

OP, I'd consider myself a Colt fan. You really can't go wrong with the LW Defender for sure... I went with a Springer LW Champ and it's becoming my favorite pistol every other weekend at a time it seems. You'd be served good with either in 9mm. I say go with whichever one you could get the cheapest. And don't forget... until June I think it is you get (4) free mags, a mag holster (of which I've used multiple times in IDPA matches in a pinch to good results), and the most worthless kydex mag available to the free public, hahahaah! But you can't discount the 4 mags and mag carrier as it's $100+ gift from Springfield. You will likely buy better mags for carry anyways so figure that into the equation as well. Be sure to post pics and a range report for us here either way!!!

The guy with the Colt has a trade value of $800 on it, with some "upgrades"...what they are I don't know as yet... will post again if I get it w/range results.

OP, I have one, but can't really say I like it. It's been 100% reliable, but I can't shot it for shit. I know its me and probably just need more trigger time with it.
I thought it would be a good, lightweight CC option, but IMHO its not. I've since purchased a SIG 225A1 and the Defender is just taking up space in the safe now.

I have the Colt Denfender and New Agent in 9mm. Both excellent guns and 100% reliable.

I also have both in .45
