Speculation turns to fact in this Pistol-Forum thread here
TFB: BREAKING: Leaked Photos Of New Wilson Combat X9 Pistol We are still fresh into 2017 and it is shaping up to be the year of the pistol. An anonymous source has revealed that Wilson Combat will be releasing a new 4? alloy 1911 that takes double stack magazines. Dubbed the EDC X9, the new model won’t use STI/SVI 2011 magazines. Instead Wilson’s new handgun will accept 18 round magazines similar to the MecGar’s for the Beretta 92. Too bad they're $2800. I've been wishing a larger company would have done this exact concept as a production gun in the $1K range. |

I like it, but a 4" 9mm for $2800? No thanks. How long do you want it for $2800? Personally I'm excited about it. I've had the same concept in mind for at least the past ten years. It doesn't look like what I had in mind, but I like it. As a handgun guy, I've owned and shot just about every platform available and become disenchanted by the shortcomings of all. If this pistol eliminate all of them, then the price is warranted and I'll take two. |

Nice handgun, I like the checkering on the frame and slide, and I bet it is a really nice pistol but for $2800 I could buy another SCAR.
I get that it is a custom gun but it seems like a lot of coin for something that is to pretty to scratch, beat up, and holster wear........ If money was no object I would be all over it.

Yeah, but the Guardian uses 2011 mags. I would guess these mags are cheaper and more reliable than 2011 mags. If they're unmodified P99/PPQ magazines then yea they'd be cheaper. If they're Wilson modified P99/PPQ magazines then I bet they'll be $75+ each. 2011 mags are reliable... if you use good anti-tilt followers instead of shaved down followers to get an extra round in. What does this Wilson do that a $1500 Cylinder & Slide tuned Hi-Power can't do? Hi-Power mags are cheap, plentiful and reliable. There's already a huge holster selection for the Hi-Power. |

It's a beautiful gun. I really wish a company would come out with a similar, polymer frame 1911. Something with the weight and capacity of a Glock, but points and shoots like a 1911. Yeah. There are these but not double stacks. Para Ordnance makes double stacks but not polymer. I don't think..... https://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=702&CFID=597381477&CFTOKEN=56225419 |

I think it's a huge step in the right direction.
It's not a Hi Power. The Hi Power has a tiny grip and a trigger that just doesn't clean up like a 1911. They are expensive base guns and only a handful of shops actually work on 'em. It's not a 2011. Thank God. The 2011 is an abortion of a pistol. They took the junkiest shit from a 1911 and double downed on it, making it a picky, finicky, expensive mess to run. It's not a CZ. It doesn't look like a CZ and doesn't have the safety in the wrong place like a CZ. It's not a 1911. It uses PPQ magazines, it has it's own extractor, and feed geometry that was built for the 9mm cartridge. It deals with every shortcoming we've had to try to work around when going after a bad ass 9mm. If it runs, then it's a bad mother-fucker. If not, it's a toy gun. I'll find out this summer. |

This is exactly what I had in mind, but using Glock or Berretta 92 etc 9mm mags, and scaled down for 9mm - basically the Wilson EDC-X, but polymer. The utility of polymer, with the luxury shooting experience of a 1911. |

So for $2800 a lefty is going to have to buy a ambi safety. WTF Wilson???? I guess if you have $2800 to spend on a gun another $100 is not a big deal. As a right hander who absolutely hates ambi safeties on anything, why I should I have to pay an extra $100 for the ambi, then another $100 to get rid of it?? |
