I have a stainless ruger vaquero that I took shooting last week, when I got home and cleaned it, the cylinder base pin/rod is stuck! It's the rod that locks the cylinder in place. It's just locked back, and won't push forward at all, like it's glued in there! I lubed it all up to no avail, and yes, I push in the button while I try to push the rod forward.
Any ideas?

Remove the grips, soak it overnight in KROIL or PB Blaster, and try again.

If the cylinder rotates normally and the rod is just in too far, this may sound dumb, but I'd shoot it...the recoil may just pop it back into place.
A sharp rap with a rubber mallet on the muzzle could do the same thing, using inertia to get it back out.
I don't have one in front of me to see if the rear of the cylinder rod can be seen from under the hammer when fully cocked, I think the transfer bar might be in the way and I don't recall if that hole is drilled all the way through, under the firing pin...if so, you could "attack" it that way.
Bits of leather on the jaws of pliers to protect the metal may work too, to tug it back out.
Just more possible options, hopefully one will work for you.
