I'm needing a good belt for carrying concealed or open. Needs to be 1 1/2" wide, anyone?

Don't have one, but always hear good things about The Beltman. I've got a Bigfoot, Alien Gear and Crossbreed belt that all work just fine. My next belt will be the Crossbreed/Ares crossover, may get it sooner than later.

Belts that I use that I'd recommend:

Beltman if you want a leather belt.  I got a 1.75", but it's the best belt I have for weight distribution.  Super comfortable.

Aries ranger belt is super stiff and surprisingly thin, 1.5" wide.  This belt is really stiff.  If I want to hold up a lot of weight but don't want to wear my beltman....this is the belt I pick.  Less comfortable than the Son of Paladin belt because of how stiff it is.

GGG Son of paladin belt.  This one isn't as stiff as the aries ranger in some ways, but it's plenty stiff when you put it on.  I like the velcro closure + Austri-Alpin better than the aries ranger.  Doesn't hold up weight as stiffly as the Aries Ranger.  Has molle loops, so you can use that stuff if you choose.

Galco makes good stuff but there are tons of different options that I'm sure are all good. As long as you can't crush it in your palm you should be good to go.

I have a belt from TT Gunleather that I am pleased with. I wore Wilderness Instructor belts for many years, but the Velcro wouldn't last as long as I would like.

I've worn a variety of sturdy, well-made leather belts in the past with no complaints (other than my growing waistline).  Just picked up a reinforced fabric instructor belt from 5.11 Tactical that has an adjustable cinch buckle and Velcro wrap on the tail.  So far I'm very impressed.

I stumbled upon a Magpul Tejas in my size at the local Cabellas bargain cave for $30 - been very happy with it so far.

It is replacing my 10+ year old Galco gun belt - which held up very well through the years.

It is hard to beat a First Spear belt.   I have the LINE ONE belt which is thinner than leather, and it doesn't stretch like leather..

SOE I have a 1.5 Rigers Cobra Buckle & the 1.5 Low Profile EDC stiff, well built & great quality.

IWB or OWB the belt can be a bit loose & I won't have to pull my pants up once or adjust at all.

I've had a 5.11 belt for years, going on almost 10 now. Just needs some new Velcro. My very first Hanks Belts belt arrived today!

The two I have are 1 3/4" both are made in 1 1/2"  though

Owned a lot of different belts that have failed, worn out, or sagged.  Ares Gear Aegis belt after 3 years now still as good as day one.  I also like how I can super quick and easy adjust tension so it is always comfortable.

I ordered this horsehide belt around Halloween 2007.  I wear it about 4-5 days a week.   The brass rivets are starting to collect a little verdigris and it's more scarred than Lena Dunham's childhood memories, but it's held together fine and I think I can get another 5-10 years out of it.

I'm wearing one from them right now. I prefer the suede interior with some pants.

Otherwise, most of my belts are Galco.

I've yet to hear any complaints about any of the myriad manufacturers out there these days. We are in the "Salad Days" of quality leather belts.

Ratchet Gun Belt

Been wearing mine for a month every day and have even used in in one class (so far)  Carry method is AIWB

Pros:
No sag/durable
Holds all gear in position.  Ratchet does not shift unless you move it
Looks good
Easy adjustments/very comfortable
Has replaced my Liger belt!
Does not scream GUN BELT!
Good customer service

Cons:
Made in China, quality is still top notch though

I recently bough a bladeteck off of amazon. Decent price...odd material thats grips everything but looks like black leather. After giving it a few days i do like it quite a bit. The price i think was in the 35 dollar range.

If I had the cash j would have orderd the aegis! Instead I just ordered a wilderness 5 stitch. Plus I didn't want to wait a month to get it.

I recently am putting through the paces this X-Concealment A.H.T. belt and am really liking it.  Had a Frequent Flyer that out grew me that I recently gave to buddy, but this new belt seems a lot nicer.  I also have a few nice leather belts too, something for all occasions.

Had a Wilderness prior to the Ares.  It failed me after 2 years it started sagging and was never really that great.  Also had a Beltman and Comp-Tac belts both started sagging.

I could have bought 3 Aegis belts for the price I have spent on belts over the years and the wait is totally worth it or watch the ready to ship section.

Here you go. You won't find a better, tougher, longer lasting, belt for concealed or open carrying that is more versatile. I wear mine with 5.11 pants or when wearing a suit. I have tried various leather belts including cow hide, shark skin, elephant skin, and nylon. This belt beats them all. I've been wearing mine for the last 6-7 years and it still looks fairly new. Started wearing it on duty for my Sig Stainless Elite P229 .40 pistol, three magazines, handcuffs, and sometimes a Monadnock expandable baton. It is tough, yet slim enough to wear in a suit which I did when I went to Grand Jury or other court proceedings. I have a box full of belts that I no longer wear because I only wear this belt. Check it out before buying anything else. It will be the last and only belt you will ever need.

Ditto on the ARES Gear Aegis Belt.

I've had way too many leather belts fail on me.

Save the leather Gucci belts for the cowboy gun-games in the Wild West Division of CAS.

For serious CCW use, go with a 5-stich  Wilderness Instructor's belt.

Midway & Brownells both sell them.   Pick your size, pick your color.  Couldn't be simpler.

In use by tactical instructors and Special Forces types everywhere.

You can thank us later ...

The Amish belts are good. If you're toting a full size steel gun, you might want to opt for a belt with a stiffener instead. My Beltman with stiffener was great until it no longer fit.

Just got my wilderness instructor belt in the mail today and tried it on. Fit and finish is perfect! Seams to be high quality materials etc.  only problem is I wish I would have gotten the kydex reinforced version. I did get the 5 stitch, I just assumed it would be more rigid than what it is.    Don't get me wrong it's great. I think it will work better than my double layer leather belt I was using. But if I could do it over again I would have gotten the one with the plastic insert.    Or better yet ordered the more expensive ares aegis like a lot of people suggested.

Dude, the 5-stich Wilderness Instructors belt is awesome kit, but if that's not enough to hold your weapon you must be carrying a Civil War cannon.

Can you send it back, you know a belt wont get stronger as it ages.  My current belt is a double horse hide with a stiffener when I ordered it I was told by the maker that it would be way to stiff to wear but its not.  For me I find that the stiffer the belt the more comfortable it is, and the absolute worst most uncomfortable "gun belt" Ive worn was Comptac.

Magpul El Origional. Fantastic belt. All other leather belts are inferior. Look up the details yourself. Costs more is its only negative point
