Kel Tec P3AT or spend the extra 3 bills for a Kahr PM9?

Help me decide.

Kahr PM9, no contest.

There are a few things in life you shouldn't try to save money on, and defensive handguns and holsters are among them.

PM9 for sure.  kel-tec = jammAmatic

NAA .22 mag mini revolver, its about as "pocket gun" as it gets.

In all seriousness I recommend the Kel Tec, all of the ones I've fired have been decent working firearms.

Had one since May  2004.  Close to 700 rounds no jams.  Feeds all types of hollow points.

Agree 100%.

While the PM9 is marginally bigger than the P3AT, it offers a quantum leap in capability. I've gotten to the point where I seldom even notice I have my PM9 in my pocket.

Recoil on the P3AT is excessive.  Id get the .32 or the Kahr 9mm but not the P3AT.

Take a look at the Kahr P40.  It's pretty small and shoots really well.

Tiny people always choose the hard recoiling gun, it's some kind of pride thing.

Goto a range on sight in day and it will be the 135lb male shooting the 7mag light weight rifle over and over again.

If your gonna use it for a carry piece, I wouldn't spend a fortune on the gun (unless I had a fortune, but I don't). If you keep it in a holster its gonna get banged up and scratched some what, so I would get something cheap, but reputable. So in this case it would be the kel-tec.

Kahr PM9, without reservation.

Mine has about 2K rounds through it and has never failed in any way.  It's not much bigger than the Kel Tec, and is a 9mm.  You will not be dissapointed.

My way of thinking is exactly opposite of this. Work a few extra hours per week until you can afford quality. Don't skimp on your holster, either.

I have both.  The PM9 is a nice summer carry gun with my FIST IWB holster its easy to forget it's there.  However i wouldn't call it a pocket gun.  Its a little heavy and big for pocket carry IMO.

The P3AT is a great gun for pocket carry.  I often slip mine in my pocket, in a DeSantis Nemesis holster when i'm messing around the house.  Its reliable enough but its contruction doesn't give me a lot of confidence and its power is..well marginal.  It is uncomfortable for me to shoot more than 50 rounds as i have largish hands that allow it to move too much in recoil.

My winter carry piece is a Glock 27 with a G23 mag and adapter piece.

Get the Kahr......though I own a P3AT.....I've had no problems with it (save for a couple pieces of brass dinging my noggin HARD breaking the skin).  It's my BUG.

To further complicate the question..... Kel Tec P11 vs Kahr PM9. Kel tec half the price of the Kahr, both 9mm, both almost the exact same size. Kahr obviously the better of the two pistols, but worth double the money? Just wondering what you thought becuase I am going through a similar questions on which to get.

My pocket gun is a Beretta 950 .25acp.  Yeah, I know .25acp bounces of peoples foreheads and stuff, but it is a pocket gun and it beats foul language.  Oh and BTW, if I ever have to use it, I will not stop shooting until it's empty.

Then I may or may not reload and continue shooting.

Kahr K40 Covert is my choice, but I do also own a P11 which I trust 100% now. Trigger shoe, hogue handall, and pinkie rest are the only mods to the p11, and it shoots like a dream.

what is the difference between the PM9 and the KM9? I see these talked about pretty often in here.  Any reliability differences? Are they teh same size?

The PM9 and MK9 are the same size gun. The MK is a steel frame gun, while the PM is polymer framed.

Some claim the PM is less reliable, but I have had no reliablilty issues with mine. YMMV.

I have an MK 9 that is my main carry gun,  and its probably worth the money over the kel-tec, but don't know if I'd carry it as a "pocket gun", my old partner had a kel-tec .380 that he was able to get a clip holster specifically for pocket carry  just my .02

I guess I must have an atypical experience.  I had 2 Kahrs which had problems with the slide locking back.  After 2 trips to the factory for both of them ($30 shipping on me each time) I traded them off and got the P3AT.  I've fired about 700 rounds through it and it functions 100%  now though it did sometimes not lock into battery when I first got it.  There is no gun that's easier to take with you no matter what, period.  I carry some form of 1911 as my main carry gun but the KelTec has been a great gun for me at less than 1/2 of the Kahr pistols.

As always YMMV

I just picked up a Pony (double action version)....was a safe queen for a guy. I'll be shooting it at the Hun Farm for the 1st time. I love the fact that you can carry it so easily.
