Hi,
I had little luck finding a thread that covered stick on grips. Mine will be on a glock - but it should be the same no matter the polymer pistol. What brands (decal grip, talon etc...) have worked for you? I tried talon rubberized and they were ok for ccw but not grippy enough for a full day at the range. The sandpaper drops seem to rough for ccw and would tear up my shirt. Is their anything between rubberized and sand paper grips? Or a way to lessen the grip of the sandpaper grips? Does anyone iwb carry a pistol with sandpaper grips? Pictures are helpful as well! Thank you! ATTom |

Ok most of you will laugh at these because they look like you wrapped your grip in velvet but they really work. Nice grip that get better when your hands are wet or sweaty.
A-Grips at http://brookstactical.com I have them on 3 Glocks that I carry. Doesn't take your skin off when you don't wear a undershirt. |

I like rubber Talons, and Tractiongrips.

Anyone ever use these? Anyone carry with sandpaper grips? |
| I bought GT-5000 on Amazon. It arrived yesterday and I put it on my pocket gun. Seems to add a nice grip and some cushion. I have no long-term durability info or hard-use data yet, but it seems like it's going to be worth the $7. I use 3M stair tread / skate tape on my slides, but never used it as grip tape. I have the same strip going 5+ years on a couple guns, so I have faith in it's durability. |

The Talons edges keep coming unglued. I properly prepped the grip, even used a heat gun to warm the grip surface. I used rubber bands to hold the grip in place while "curing". I've tried just about everything, but the split backstrap on the Glocks Talon Grips just keep coming unglued. So, I've trashed them as they become unusable. I will not replace them anymore, the continued cost of replacing them ar not worth the benefit. It's a shame too, because the rubber Talons are great while they last, but unless you put them on purely safequeen handguns, they just don't work as advertised. |

You can custom make your own if you are so inclined.
I did it by making a template on my gun with masking tape and then transfering that to a some skate board deck tape. After that you have a reusable template you can just trace onto the deck tape and cut a new one whenever you want. It's been on my glock since 2012 and I haven't had any problems with it coming up, but I don't carry that gun. I have put some of the same deck tape on the front strap of the 1911 that I carry and it hasn't come off or moved at all. |
| Gun grips come from skateboard grip tape. Most skateboard grip tape will work as a grip for guns. Be mindful of which skateboard tape to use. A lot of skateboard grip are very aggressive and might rube into your skin if you're conceal carry. Google gun grip templet to help you in your DIY project. |

Just go with the factory grip surface for CCW and buy some ProGrip lotion for the range days, if you really have that hard a time hanging onto the gun. A mildly aggressive stippling job like on the Gen 4 Glocks will do the trick if you simply can't get by with the relatively smoother Gen 3 and Gen 2 frames.
I do use some ProGrip style powder for summer matches but that's more about keeping my sweaty hands from sliding around on each other than actually gripping the gun itself. |

I like the Talon rubber ones better than any of the others I've tried. I haven't had any adhesion issues.
I've got them on G19.3, G36, and Kahr CM9. G26.4 I so far have left naked, and probably will leave it that way. I've also used Hogue Handall (too big), Butler Creek slip-on(not bad, but not form fitted to the gun), and the velvet one (weird) listed above. |

I talked to them on the phone, guy told me to do multiple heatings. I did each of mine 3/4 times, getting them pretty damn hot. Each time I REALLY pressed them hard all over to make sure they stuck to the surface good. Never a problem when done that way, and these are on carry guns. |

Were you left with any stubborn residue? And if so, how did you get it off? |

>>The Talons edges keep coming unglued.<< I found that to be the case as well, and switched over to Traction grips. They're much less money and tend to adhere better. (at least to me) Those are great also, Don is a great guy. Been to his house, he made me some for a PPQ I had at the time for free as he didn't have one to make the pattern. Also bought my SAM7 from him |
