Hi All
I have an older Lyman 3 die set in .38, 357 and .357 Maximum. There are what appears to be 3 bullet seating stems. Each is marked with a head stamp on top of the stem. They are marked 311L, 429, 495. I am pretty sure that these may be for different bullet types to be used, or they are caliber specific. But the directions don't say anything about which stem goes with any particular bullet. Can someone tell me what these markings mean? Thanks |

The seating stems are not caliber specific.
The numbers designated the "cup" style in the stem. Each bullet nose has a different profile and thus needs a different "cup" in the stem to match. By matching "cup" style to the bullet, you will reduce the risk of bullet deformation and help keep your bullet in-line and concentric to the case. 311L is for round-nose style bullets 429 is for semi-wadcutters 495 is for wadcutters |
