I've got a S+W Model 41 that is driving me nuts. I've tried a couple of different types of ammo with it and I either get great groups or it is reliable, but not both. The Remington T22 ammo has the fewest failures (usually stovepipes), but has the biggest groups. Federal Gold Match gives very tight groups, but at least one round out of each mag either fails to fire (primer hit, but no bang) or stovepipes. I've checked the manual and it does not recommend a specific ammo. Has anyone out there found a .22 ammo that works reliably in their S+W Model 41? |
| Never was impressed much by the rem rimfire stuff. Try CCI STANDARD.It is used by most of the pistol league shooters around my parts, seems to work good for me. Wipe out the chamber from the rear every now and then with a patch,it should come out shiney clean pretty easy.Watch the inside upper corner of the slide right above the rear of the chamber .this area tends to catch some krusty caked on junk, will need to be cleaned out now and then.If cleaning and the CCI don't work talk to S&W as these guns seem to run pretty good. Oh yeah---there was a problem years ago with some bad mags, don't realy remember what the deal was but maybe try a new mag or a buddies mag that works his gun ok. |

The Model 41 shooters on my team seeem to like RWS or CCI, although we have had dud problems with CCI off and on. If you can find some. you might want to try a box or three of PMC Match Pistol. I have been using it in my Buckmark 5.5 Target with excellent results for most of the past two years. |
