| I was wondering how close "good" double tap groups should be from a 9mm at a distance of around 20ft? I just want to know if I'm doing good or not. Also, any techniques or suggestions that may help? Thanks. |

For most folks, if you can put your doubletaps onto a 3x5" index card at 20 feet, that will be better than average combat shooting. The other side of the equation, of course, is speed. How fast is your second shot? One fun way to build up your doubletap-fu is to shoot USPSA matches. They doubletap most everything, and the great majority of competitors will be happy to offer you pointers. |
I have a Sig 228, and I always fire the first shot in double action, so the time for my second shot is a little slower than if I were firing both in single action. It is still about as fast as is possible with the weapon and my reflexes I think. I still need to work on consistency though, because sometimes I have really close groups, other times pretty crappy. Thanks for the advice though! |
| I also have a question about double taps. How fast should someone be able to double tap a target with a DAO handgun. I have a SA XD-9 and my double taps are pretty slow. I can fire them much faster with a DA/SA handgun . Is this normal? Theoretically I would assume so because of the increased distance of the trigger pull. Correct? How fast can you arfcom XD and Glock owners fire a double tap? Just wondering. |
