Does anyone have any experence with STI? I recently purchased an Eagle 5.0 and it seems to work well except the grip safety seems to have been disconected.

STI makes some serious quality stuff. As for "seems to be disconnected", either it is or it isn't. Which is it?

The spring tension may need to be adjusted. Should be an easy fix. Take it to a gunsmith if you can't do it yourself.

I have a STI Tactical in 45 and I love it!

If you bought it used, it may have been modified. I've known some competitors who disable the grip safety for their games.

I own two STIs for competition shooting and both grip safeties have been neutered and pinned 'closed'. Several shooters I compete against just grind the end off the safety arm to make it ineffective but I found the safety shifting under my palm was distracting and spoiling my grip so I pinned mine as well. If the gun was bought used the safety may be modified.

Its a small club. Most of the people I know shoot USPSA with em.
I like my David Dawson STI Edge in .40

With 6 mags it sound like the person you bought it from competed also. Five mags is the min. you should have on hand to compete in most matches.
