So I had planned on ordering one of the Police trade in 226's in 9mm or a SA mil-spec but I was out on saturday at the local wal-mart(I know no flames please )And decided to go to a pawn shop accross the street and what do I find Brand new Glock 19's for 375! I couldnt believe it. They are in fact the older model but I prefer the straight feeling to the finger grooves. So now Im stuck between 3 guns I am leaning toward the Glock 19 because of the locality and price but I still cant decide can you guys help me with some pros and cons.

If you cannot decide between a 1911 & a run of the mill Glock, then may John Moses Browning have mercy on your souless soul, sir.

For a first time handgunner I might want to do a 9mm.

There's nothing wrong with Glock 19's.  That's a hell of a price.  Are you sure the aren't refurbs?  Either way, it's a heck of a deal.

You just need to decide whether a 1911 or G19 is calling your name first.  Eventually, you'll want both.

I own both, a Kimber and 2 Glocks.  I like the 1911 for what it is, but I will go out on limb (not really) and say the Glock is superior pistol.  The Glock is lighter, safer, has higher capacity, is easier to break down, and is more reliable.  The best most people can claim against the Glock is the grip angle.  I find that point moot; as I shoot both consecutively without any problems.

I like them both but I feel it is like comparing a Garand to an AR.  The Garand is/was an excellent battle rifle (especially in it's time), but the AR is a more modern superior weapon for its application.

I'm confident that was a refurb.  Most department stores do not sell used guns.  It was at the refurb price as well.  Nothing wrong there!

Well, since I have both a generation 2 Glock 19 and a SA Mil Spec, I'm going to say...

get both!

Nothing wrong with a Glock. Nothing wrong with a high capacity 9mm. I have several 45's, Single Stacks and High Cap 45's. I love them all, but I would never be without at least one or two good high cap 9mm's. They are just too much fun to shoot. Also, I would never be without a 22 long rifle pistol and rifle. I woud never be without a Single stack 1911 either though.

There is nothing "pansy" about owning a 22lr. There is nothing "pansy" about owning a 9mm. Just like owning a 45 does not make you "Macho." All of those calibers have certain roles to fill.

However, owning a 40 S&W or 40 Auto (whichever you chose to call it) does make you a compromising pansy following the lead of a bunch of whiners. The 10mm kicks too much. The 10mm grip is too big. Boo-Whoo- Whoo!! For $375 I would buy that G19 in a heartbeat!
