Are there any benefits of the compact sized 1911 over the full sized model?

#1 lighter weight
#2 easier to conceal

Don't go shorter than a Commander legnth slide for maximum reliability though.
What are you looking to do with it?

I'll be using it just for fun as of now, but later I'd possibly use it for CCW
Thanks

I have full size, mid size and compact 1911's and I carry the full size 99% of the time

faster draw time (supposidly)

less bbl to clear the holster

h/w, the real compact 1911s are notorious for being less reliable than the fullsize ones; the littles ones need more care and maitainence (the commander size is still great though)

Its lighter and that's about it.

With 1911s the smaller they get the less reliable they tend to be.

For most the barrel is not the hard part to conceal, its the butt.  If you get a commander the butt is the same size.  If you get any thing smaller see the statement above.

I have a SA Micro, 3" barrel & it's been perfectly reliable. SA has done a much better job than Colt did with their OACP, IMO.

I have a Kimber Ultra CDP II and it has performed flawlessly.
