What is the general consensus on the quality, fit, reliability of the Zev slides?  On one hand, it would be convenient to just order a slide that already has the ability to mount an RMR to.  On the other hand, I have some reservations since they are machined from scratch and are not the factory Glock slide to start with.

I appreciate any feedback.  Just trying to decide if a slide like this could really be considered on my go to gun or if I need to have the Glock slide machined for an RMR.

Wow.  It looks like they are $500 for a naked slide!!?!   (If it has all the internals then it's not too bad a price--but still like $50-$75 more than usual.)
If so, as much as it pains me to say this, you can get a LOT better deal buying one from...gag...um...holds nose...for $279 with front serrations and an RMR cut from Suarez International.  Sadly, you'd either have to deal with the "Suarez International" markings on the side and top (OR you could cover them with grip-tape or even have it milled out with a coffin cut--though that would cost like another $150).
I'm SURE the tolerances at ZEV and even SI are fine--and they'd exchange it if you had any issue.  There are tons of people who are using both and not complaining.

Have you shot a glock with an RMR on it?  Takes some getting used to.  I liked mine, but since my carry guns didn't have one, I figured I'd just assume try to improve without it--even though I LOVED shooting it at 25Y-50Ys.

I don't know the reliability or the fit of the Zev slide but I would think it would be cheaper to have your factory slide milled and have the RMR installed by L&M for around $600 or so.

Gee... I know small batch machining is expensive. But I hope that $600 includes the RMR.

Are there other places that machine Glock slides for red dot type sight (that you can cap off with a plate when not red dot mounted?

The RMR (Trijicon) sure is included in the service.  I just out the website and was thinking of doing it to my Glock 34 gen 3.  You might want to inquire with L&M if after machining the slide if a cover could be included.

Bowie Tactical will do the milling for $175, and an extra $55 for a dovetail cut for a BUIS in front of the RMR.

Your best bet would be to get l and cut for the ATOM slide cut, that way you can pay a few bucks and get the mount for an rmr, an aim point, or just regular old iron sights.

For the cost of that zen slide, you could buy a complete gun and sell the frame to cover the cost of the milling.
