I was cleaning my Gloc 21 when I noticed that the striker/firing pin wasn't all the way forward when I had the slide off the frame.  I have little experience with Gl;ock, but I've always noticed this forward after dry firing the gun to dis-assemble it.
My question: is it possible I forgot to dry fire it before removing the slide, and the slide somehow came off anyway?  I put it back together, and did the function check with the pencil down the barrel and the pencil was ejected when dry firing, indicating that the gun functions correctly.
Is it possible I've damaged the gun?  A couple of times taking it apart testing it afterwards, it seems that if I set the slide back just a little farther than necessary before deploying the slide release tabs that the striker would not be depoloyed farther.
Any help or response is greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to forget to dry fire the gun before disassembly yet still be able to take the slide off without noticible resistance?  Would this permanetly damage the gun??

sometimes when you are cleaning the slide the striker will go back to the fire position if you catch it with your rag or something, happens all the time, no consequence when you put it back together.

As for disassebly without dry fire I do not think it is possible, if you do not fire and try to take the slide off you immeditely feel the resistance which tells you to stop and figure out what's going on (dry fire)

Thanks I was a little concerned there.

Yeah everything corrects itself when you put the slide back on, the retaining piece elevates, and you rack the slide back the first time.
