I have a 9mm carbine.  They are junk.  The .45 will run ok, but I would trust it for a defence weapon.  Might make a good backup truck gun

They are cheap plastic garbage. Don't waist your $$. IMHO.

Albeit cheaply made (and priced) as well as having the asthetics of the new Scion they work as advertised.

Had a hi-point 995 9mm carbine.

First day i was at the range with it, KABOOM!!!

First shot took out the fcg.  I called Hi-point who took it back and fixed er up for free (minus my shipping costs).  They have a nice life time warranty, but what good is a gun if it is always being fixed at the manufacturer.

Even after that I still didn't trust it and sold it at gun show shortly thereafter.

If you can only spend less than $200 for a handgun then they are the best of the cheapy guns.

They are the best of the junk guns but there is still no good reason to buy a POS like a HP when all those good surplus military pistols such as a Makarov and a few others can be bought for the same price or less.

ok if a gun cost $140 NIB doesn't that send up a red flag? I mean most decent guns start around $400. Think about it.

If you ask enuf people you will get a wide mixture of responses....

I have a buddy who has the carbine... has had it for years and never had a problem with it and to the best of my knowledge he has never cleaned it.

On the other hand, my brother had one of their pistols and it wouldnt shoot more than 3 or 4 rounds between stove pipes.

On the third hand (or first foot) I recently talked to a fellow at the range (approx 4 or 5 weeks ago) who had one in 9mm and seemed to love it.  Said he shot it monthly for the last year and has not had a problem yet.

I wouldnt go out of my way to get one, unless its what you can afford.  I agree with the above post... Its probably the best of the "cheapy" guns.

If you need a pistol for less than $150, buy a Makarov.

I like their carbines, but their pistols don't even make good paper weights.

Well... I know people who say they have never had a problem with it and then there are people who have ONLY problems.  You tell me?  Is it worth the risk?

I've sold a lot of Hi Point pistols.. About 3 a week, and have never had one come back to the store..

Are they good, I say no.. I would never own one, unless I get it for 20 bucks, but i still would most likely pass..

For around a C-Note, I say the CZ-52 is the best pistol out there.. Nest is most definately the Mak, but priced a little more..
