Hey guys. I have a buddy who wants to trade his NIB never fired m&p shield in 9mm plus $100 for my gen 3 glock 19. I'm not really attached to the glock and kinda like the thought of having a slim single stack 9mm. My EDC gun currently is a G23. I mean if I really miss the g19 I can pick up another but I don't thinking ll miss it all that much. Also the Shield has a born on date of 10/10/2013 so it's not effected by the recall. Just thought I would get so e of the hives thoughts on the shield. Thanks

That's my thoughts. The 19/23 are the same frame. Same size. And I can take the extra. $100 and buy a 9mm barrel. The shield he wanting to trade comes with 3 mags also. All I'm trading is my glock with 2 mags. Not a huge difference but I'll take an extra shield mag. lol

What role would the S&W have?  If your EDC is a Glock, and now you throw a different trigger in the mix, it may not be the best way.  I had a Kahr 9mm that I liked nearly as much as my Glocks.  Since I had multiple Glocks at the time, and this one weapon with a wholly different trigger pull, I sent the Kahr down the road.   The G19 is good practice that carries directly over to the G23.  Also, your holsters are identical whereas you'll need to add additional gear to accommodate the shield.

It's an attractive trade, but it's not one I'd go for.  YMMV.

Well I really like shopping for new gear. New holsters and stuff doesn't bother me. I'm. It not sure on the role it will play. I focused more on deeper concealment and a slimmer profile. My 23 is a gen 4 and I have the beavertail strap on it and I like the way the 23 holds in my hand better than the 19.  I have no attachment to the 19 and I don't even take it to the range hardly. I would day it's seen range time maybe 3 times all year. It just collects dust mostly. I'm gonna make the trade and see what happens. If I feel like I can't live without it I'll pick up another one but in a gen 4.
