Welcome o the club.. I know the feeling. I work from 10:30pm - 7:00am Wednesday night through Sunday night. Having Monday & Tuesday nights off. I've wanted to go to some of the local meets but its been hard plus the wife complains about the kids driving her crazy.... |

Look at the bright side... you have plenty of time to take care of errands on your days off. Also, I'd imagine the fishing holes are pretty deserted in the middle of the week. I'd gladly give up having Sunday as a day off if I could take a day off during the week. It must be hard missing all those gun shows, though. :( |
| My first three years in law enforcement I worked mostly midnights, with an occasional evening shift. First two years I had either Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday off. Finally got enough new guys coming on the department behind me that I wrangled Sunday/Monday as days off and could attend IPSC and Steel Combat matches (Sunday mornings). After working from 2200 hrs Saturday to 0600 hrs on Sunday my shooting sometimes wasn't worth crap but I did get to go shoot. |

C&L. Can you do shift trades? Our roster is great in that way. The deer hunters will work shifts for anyone all summer and get payed back during deer season. 1 friend took all deer season off and only used 4 or 5 vacation days to do it. Plan for next year and you and I will run the holding cell for tattoo! |
| Shift work sucks-several of the guys I hunt with are either police or work at a local nuke plant. Hunting season is tough for them and it's brutal on a family if you have kids-not up to see them off to school, not home at night to take 'em to hockey. Police is worse, seems like it's impossible to get Saturdays off before you are a year from retiring. |
