Holster for full size S.A. 1911

I know there have been many pick a holster threads but my needs are a little different.

Concealed carry and super speedy withdraw are not primary concerns.

Main goals are retention and protecting the pistol. It will be carried during hiking, brush clearing, wood cutting, etc. I don't want the pistol falling out on it's own, getting chipped up every time I sit down on a rock, or the muzzle full of dirt if I slip and slide down a bank by the river.

I have found a couple that look like they might do the job but want to get advice from those with more handgun experience. Looking forward to your replies.

That being the case, there are too many good options to list....including the option of picking up a used nylon holster of ebay for $5.

I guess that was a bit too open ended of a question. Let me try again and I'll be a little more specific. Does anyone have any reasons for or against the following three options or do you have a better suggestion?

I do everything you have listed for work, and more and I wear my Commander all day, every everyday. I use a Blade Tech IWB and have never had any problems with it. The pistol is well protected from both the elements and me, is very secure and the holster is very comfortable.

As for this, its got you covered here too.

I used to use these holsters 10-20 years ago, but I've since started using holsters made by Lou Alessi.  Holsters are one of them things that you get what you pay for.  Alessi ain't cheap, but they not only look good, they last a long time with Mr. Alessi's lifetime guarantee.  Good luck on your search.

Back before I got my Glock, I used to carry my Ruger SP101 .357 in a Bianchi Accumold when I went to the field.
I still have it and it worked real well for field carry.

Just came back to add this link and picture of the holster I have.
