I'm thinking about getting one for off duty & back up. Anybody here with one thats been a problem? I've got a Glock 17, and I had a Glock 33, but I got rid of it because of the high cost and availability of 357sig. The Glocks I've owned and shot always worked fine, I just wonder if the 26 is in the same league as the rest of Mr Gaston's inventions. Well I bought one, and took it out to my agencys' range and qualified with a 96. Its a damn good little gun, I didn't even shoot it before qualifying, and we have to shoot duty ammo. Anyway, FWIW, I'd recommend it, and thanks to those that contributed to my thread. |
That is a good suggestion-I had those on that Glock 33. I would think the 26 would be pretty accurate, I'm not a good shot by any measure but I always shot low-mid 90's with the 33, despite the 357Sig recoil in it. One of those guns I now regret trading off; oh well, as they say, ya can't shove shit back up a donkey. |

I have a 26 and have had no issues so far. It fed everything I have put into it including cheap ass Silver Bear HPs. I find the grip small for my hand and once considered the mag extension to add some length but changed my mind. The little gun has surprizing lack of recoil for its size. It carrys and conceals very well and is a good size for center consoles in cars. Its a great alternative to the .38 snub. Tj |
Funny you should say its a great alternative to the .38 snub-thats exactly what I want to replace. I've got a S&W 642 which is a great gun I carry in my pocket, but the G26 is only 5 ozs heavier with more than twice the capacity, not to mention accuracy. |
I only mentioned it because that was the exact reason I bought the 26. Though I love my little snub and it has been quite the tool, I haven't carried it since I bought the 26. BTW, if you buy one, I know you will like it, and decide to carry it as a primary off duty, I can highly recommend the Don Hume down the back belt snap holster. Its not the clip but actual leather belt loops with snaps around your belt. Almost zero chance of pulling the holster with your gun during a fast draw regardless of clothing. Its a good tight fit molded around the specific gun and very comfortable although a tad harder to put on. Trick to the snaps is snap to the side not up and down for they aren't designed to give that way. It does allow for shirt tucking. Since I am not an LEO, I typically don't carry a backup so I don't have personal experience with the ankle holsters but have seen many on the market. Tj |
| For a short gun it might be accuarate compaired to other short barrel handguns....but vs a Glock 17 or other full sizes, it's NO WHERE near as accuarate. It's very hard to just pick up and shoot well with. It is not forgiving to mistakes. I have put 3000 rounds through mine, I've had about 7 FTF and I get a failure to eject about 1 out 200 rounds. I still thinks it's an awsome gun and would bet my life on it. |

Thanks, I was afraid of that so why I chose the 26 over the 27. I feel a tad better now about the decision. Tj |
I had the opportunity to shoot the G27 and G26 side-by-side back in December and I liked the G26 better. Even with +P the G26 wasn't a problem. Even though I could live with the G27 I really don't want to have to buy an additional caliber of ammo. 9mm and .45 is enough. |
