I picked up one of these a week or so ago. Anyway, it doesn't have a ramped barrel at all. I thought all the Ultra's had a ramped barrel? It has a nice gap/step from the chamber to frame then to the mag. It will not feed any flat nosed rounds at all. Like 185/200gr .45acp, LSWC, and some JHP. The gun was LNIB.. ultra cdp II and has an internal extractor with non ramped barrel. I assume this is an older II series ultra cdp? I sold a buddy of mine a Tactical Ultra II and it has a ramped barrel and external extractor. I'm confused. Kimbers website says "Ultra CDP II has a ramped 3-inch barrel" And mine doesn't. Box says its a Ultra CDP II. Also has the extra "deal" for the firing pin safety so I know for a fact that it is a Series II. |

All the CDPs have internal extractors. My best guess is that it isn't uncommon for Kimbers to be tight and a little finicky for the first 500 rounds or so. Add the 3" bbl factor to this and the feeding issues may well work themselves out after a thorough break in period. A strip down and close inspection for any burrs or such is of course a good idea. |
