If you were going to buy a derringer just for putzing around with would you prefer a 38spl or a 9mm?

9mm just because the ammo is cheaper.

Since I did, recommend .45 COLT in confidence;

would not worry about ammunition cost, you won't be shooting many rounds..at a time.

Would love that 45 but not really an option at the price I'm looking at. Probably go 38
