six of one...half a dozen of another...but I think it was a 9 or a 40.

Look at the size of the bore in some of the stills.  I'd guess it was a 9mm.

tom cruise is like 4'9".  had to be a 9mm.

sure looked like he knew how to shoot, though.  great tech advisor.

Blanks cycle 9mm and the like very well. .45 has always been difficult. That is why there are very few movies that portray anything other than a Glock, Beretta, HP, etc. Even when 1911s are depicted, they are usually chambered in 38 stupid or 9mm.

I personally think the USP .45 is the best defensive pistol available.  As much as I like 1911's - the USP 45 is lighter, more durable and reliable, has 50% greater firepower and more versatile - you can carry it SA, DA even get in in DAO if that's your cup of tea. It's a little wider than a 1911 so a bit more difficult to conceal, but not that much - oh, and the trigger can be a bit rough right out of the box, but a good polish job will take care of that. If I had to haul my ass around Iraq as a contractor or something - that would be what I would carry. (not trying to flame the 1911- I love em- I just think the USP is a better gun in this situation)

...more durable and reliable, has 50% greater firepower and more versatile...

Hmm. I guess our children will be the only ones that can validate that statement in 80 years. The 1911 isn't high speed, low drag. But its durability and reliability has stood the test of time greater than any other semiautomatic handgun. The 1911 is easily tuned, and smithed in the field. On the other end of the spectrum, there are many Masters that can make a 1911 look and feel like nothing you've ever seen before.

Be well!

what situation?  a night of contract killing?

tour of adrians house-

"that's my daily ccw gun, there's my car gun, that one over there is my bathroom gun.  my 7 eleven gun is over here.  and that hk?  that's what i use for hits in LA.  now if i was taking someone out in chicago, i'd use my les baer...."

It was a 9mm. The giveaway shot was when the detective was holding up the two spent cartridges in the evidence bag outside the first shooting.

In the commentary Michael Mann says its a .45. Otherwise I would think its a 9.

I would say it's a 9, look at how many shots he fires before he has to reload in the club.

On another board someone said that in the MTA scene(where Cruise dies), that Cruise was using a Smith .45 that he took off the courthouse security guard. I noticed that when Cruise dropped the mag to he was going to reload with(after the shootout) it sure looked like a double stack mag, which would make it a .40 or a nine.  Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

it was a 9mm smith, but the HK was a .45

Tom cruise got training from a former SAS operative.  Shows it in the special features.

is that why cruise's 9mm did not go through the subway door and max's .45s did?

or did vincent just miss completely?
12/31/2004 1:59:12 AM EDT

Probably hit vincent first, by closing his eyes and just unloading, as said in the commentary, and I suppose after being hit, vincent missed subsequent shots.

actually, in reality, 9mm's would have penetrated the door as well if not better than the .45's.

Let's get to the holster. What brand and where from?
