Here's a quick synopsis of what I've found through a little over 1k rounds through my Gen 4 G35:

Pros:
-Reliable (despite the internet lore, I have never seen any issues personally with Gen4 40 caliber Glocks)
-Accurate (more accurate than 99% of the shooters that will own one)
-Durable (I'm pleasantly surprised with the lack of finish wear on the inside of this gun, the newer Glock finish is holding up well)
-Easy to maintain
-TONS of aftermarket support; especially competition sights if you are looking to use this gun competitively
-Accepts 15, 17, and 22 round factory magazines
-Similar in size to a full size 1911, yet has increased capacity and is lighter (I realize it's a different caliber, just pointing that out as not to start a caliber war)
-Glock's customer service is second to none
-Cheap replacement parts, should you ever need them
-Low Bore Axis resulting in a relatively soft shooting gun
-Easily modified to fit the shooters' preferences
-Requires very little cleaning/lubrication to run reliably (that said, clean your guns!)
-Comes with 3 mags standard

Cons:
-I'm not a fan of the design of the Gen4 backstrap system
-Very little to no magwells on the market that can be used with the backstraps
-More expensive than the standard size Glock pistols
-I dislike the factory adjustable sights

Here's a video with some shooting on steel plates from the 12m line, the 40m (really 38m but I round up so it seems more impressive) line, a table top discussion with a demonstration of disassembly/assembly and a size comparison to a standard 1911, G22, and G23 followed lastly by a chronograph test:

Chronograph results:

Winchester Ranger 135gr JHPs: 1208fps, 437 ft/lbs energy
Federal HST 165gr Bonded JHPs: 1114fps, 455 ft/lbs energy
Federal HST 180gr JHPs: 1095fps, 479 ft/lbs energy

I do prefer the Gen3s still, but it looks great. The 35 is a blast to shoot.

I go back and forth on the Gen3 vs Gen4 (so I have both of some models ).    Some days I grab the Gen3, some days the Gen4––-life is good.

Nice vid... great shooting.  My OD G35 is my favorite pistol.  I also carry a G35 issued pistol for duty... both Gen 3.

On the magwell front, Dawson Precision has just released their Gen4 Ice magwell.  Bright aluminum available now, black in a couple of weeks.

The response came in––––2.9oz.   I ordered one––I'll report back after I test it out.

I have a Model 35 that I bought in 1999 or 2000.  They had just came out, I had a hard time finding one.  I used it for IPSC and it was a champ.  I still have it and will never let it go.  Good luck with yours.

I am running the standard Glock Ice magwell in black on my Gen3 Model 35 paired with the Dawson extended basepads.  They work great and I have no complaints.  I found out about the new Gen4 magwell from their newsletter.  Am looking forward to hearing how the Gen4 magwell works out.

Sweet pistol OP. Someday I either want an M&P40 Pro or a G35.

I'd advise against getting a M&P Pro.   I have one and wouldn't buy another.  I'd just get the regular M&P and spend the extra money on an Apex kit––-it's a better gun in the end that way.

So, I just got the new ICE magwell for Gen4s with inserts.   I haven't put any rounds through the gun with it on yet but when I do I'll write up a little report.

picked up a gen 4 19 and recent production gen3 26 in the last year- well over 1k through both- no issues what so ever

Here's my 35, it's a 98 or 99 year model.  Has about 15,000 rounds down the pipe.  Shot IPSC with it for 3 years and ran great.  This pistol will never be for sale.

Gen4s do cost a bit more, but they come with three mags.

Add the cost of a third mag to a new Gen3 and the price gap closes a bit.

OP - did your G35 not come with a extended slide release lever or did you swap it out?

regards

I swapped it out.  I really don't like the extended slide releases as I have activated them once or twice while shooting and this is a defensive gun for me.   I generally 'power stroke' the slide when reloading so it's not really an issue for me anyways.   If I was running the gun as a competition gun I'd probably leave it but I'm not...

I can't tell just by looking at the picture, but is that the shiny finish, or the dull finish on that gun? I've been considering switching to a Glock 35 for my CCW (I currently carry a Glock 22) and I know previous model 35s have a very slick-feeling finish that I don't think I'd like for CCW use.

It's the shiny finish.  I have a 34 that was made a few months before with the dull finish.   Hopefully Glock has picked one and sticks with it now (I like shiny).
