I'm thinking of picking up a burris fastfire 3 for my ruger mk3.
It will be used mostly for target, but also maybe some steel challenge stuff.

My question is.........The new fastfire 3 comes available with 3moa or 8moa dots.

What should I go with?
Is the 3moa dot easy enough to pickup?
Have you ever wished for a larger dot on your fastfire or fastfire 2?

I noticed that you can manually set brightness on the new model, so I take it this would help compensate for a smaller dot?

I have a Fast Fire II on my .22/45 Mark III.     It's the 4 MOA dot and I don't have any problems finding it due to the size.      Unless your eyes really suck, I wouldn't get the 8 MOA dot, it's size will obscure much of the target at distances greater than 20-25 yards.

At 25 yards, my 4 MOA dot will nearly cover a 3" target dot.

The big improvement from the FF II to the FF III is the ability to manually set your brightness.     In bright conditions, the auto brightness feature of the FF II will sometimes cause the reticle to "flare" and appear a bit larger/ fuzzy.    Burris has addressed that issue with the FF III since you can set the brightness to your liking, or use the auto mode.
