I am in my 50s and really have a hard time seeing the sights on a Springfield 1911 (Novak) and a Browning Hipower. White dots don't work well for me. Any ideas? The fiber optic sights look like they could work but I dont hear much about them. Anybody use the sightbrite paint?

Anecdotal, but I have a good friend who bought his dad a Springfield Range Officer.  Took it in to have the fire control parts upgraded.  His dad had the same complaint as you about the all black sights.  At the smith's suggestion he added a fiber optic front sight. Buddy's dad says it made a big difference.

Take some neon fingernail polish to the white on the dots. It will help some. If it doesn't, the fiber optic may be of little help.

Also, you may consider getting either a more narrow front sight or a wider rear sight. The more light around the front sight post, the easier it is to pick up.
