| Thinking about picking up one of these for fun since they are fairly cheap. I handled one and liked the convertible safety/decocker option. It is one ugly mutha though. Any experiences? |
| I have one...good shooting pistol. Two things I don't like....1-The frame is very thin and seems to "bulge" out around the steel frame rails. The material CZ uses is not as sturdy in my eyes as Glock, M&P, H&K, or XD polymer frames. 2-The availability of aftermarket night sights sucks. I payed big $$$ for Trijicon sights as the plastic ones it comes with are less than to be desired. All in all it's a good handgun for the money and prints well on target but in my honest opinion my CZ SP01 Phantom is twice the polymer pistol the P07 is and is a pale comparison to a Glock 19 that it would compete with size wise. |

Do not buy! Trapfan is correct that the frame plastic is poor.
The P07 I bought turned into a Salvador Dali style pistol, the factory replacement came a few weeks later and I sold it NIB on gunbroker
Bought a HK P30 and it's been 100% perfect. Posted this a year ago in the 2000 rnd challenge thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_5_4/103044__The_2_000_Round_Challenge_.html&page=7 Posted: 1/26/2011 7:36:49 AM MST
I'll post a total failure: Pistol: CZ P07 Caliber: 9mm Modifications: None Ammunition fired: UMC FMJ 115 grain, S&B FMJ 115 grain, RWS FMJ 124 grain, Win Nato FMJ 147 grain, Rem Golden Saber 124 grain, Win PDX1 124 grain Dates of testing: January 17-24 Total rounds fired: 650 Stoppages: 2 Malfunctions: 4 Breakages: 1 Notes: new old stock, MFG August 2009 SN# A651XXX, Bought NIB from LGS January 10 2011, detail cleaned and lubed before firing. Stoppages: caused by deliberate limp wrist testing after the first 200 rounds to see how easily it fails. First with UMC 115 grain, second with Win Nato 147 grain. Answer; not sensitive. A completely loose wrist and hand hold is required, empty goes straight up bypassing ejector getting caught between upper port and barrel hood, easy to clear by turning gun over, pulling back slide, when empty drops, let slide go to finish feeding next round. Malfunctions: slide cycling became sluggish around 500-550 rounds, then magazines would no longer drop free at 600-650 rounds. Examining the pistol showed that the frame is warping, the dust cover and mag well are distorted. Breakages: this is a known problem for early P07s due to inconstant polymer frame curing in some batches, CZ simply replaces the gun with a new MFG one. Now I will have to wait for the replacement pistola to start again, 1-2 weeks. |
| I picked up a P-07 Duty new from Academy Sports for $400 recently. Trigger is great, ergonomics are great although there's less of the slide to grab than other pistols as the slide fits inside the frame. Frame bulge is an issue that's been discussed on other forums, supposedly the newer ones have a revised frame and a captured recoil rod spring. CZ customer service seems to be very good and everyone who's experiened a frame bulge have gotten a new pistol. Supposedly there's a new model coming out soon which may be why Academy is selling them so cheap. I will admit, it's not a pretty pistol but for $400 it's a great pistol for the money. It's a wide pistol, like a Glock 17/34 so it wouldn't be my first choice for carry. I like CZs but their prices have shot up over the years and they're not the bargains they once were. Other good pistols in that price range are Bersa ( I just got a 9mm Thunder Pro Hi cap for $430 and Academy has the compact version for $400) and Rock Island Armory 9mm 1911 (paid $400 cash NIB at a local show). |
