Oh how I loved that weapon. Shot expert with it in boot, and never looked back. Love the capacity, the weight, the balance, 9mm fan, and I think it looks dam sexy. Then they went and switched to a DA only SIG .40 Any other M9/92 fans out there?

It's ok. I might pick one up some day just because I carried one in the navy. Same reason why I'll get an M1A...

It's a very fine handgun.  I love my Beretta 92F's.

Very accurate and reliable.  And a great value for your money, IMO.

I love my M9. Very reliable, smooth shooting and accurate. I have never had an issue with it.

I traded in my Berreta for a Sig P229 in 1997

For ME
The sig P229 shot tighter groups!

Both are High Quality Pistols
I just happen to favor the Sig

Got two and loved them, I've broken about five locking locks on the M9's at work.  Didn't shoot my M9 while in Afghanistan just incase the locking block cracked, just a big gun and the decocking lever/safety is high and hard to sweep off quickly while presenting the weapon on target.

I love it. My Beretta gets used hard and its been 100%.

I like it and own three (M9, 92FS, 92FS compact L).

It was the only NIB weapon I was issued in the Army.  We traded in our .38 special S&W Model 10 revolvers for them.  I thought it was a pretty good upgrade.

Did someone say Beretta?

92A1

Elite 92. Right now the slide and an NP3 barrel I picked up is having a bushing installed

92FS

92 Compact

PX4sc. Yea, its the odd man out but its a great CCW piece.

I never liked a single DA/SA handgun out there until I bought my first Beretta. Never a single issue with any of them either.

Great pistol, my only complaint is the finish on the barrels of the military guns.  What ever it is, it doesn't hold up well to CLP.

The barrel finish is standard manganese phosphate with a hard chrome bore/chamber.

Same as nearly all U.S. Mil weapons.

It does not hold up well, compare to other weapons.  I have been issued dozens and signed for hundreds of M9s over the years and none of them had barrel finished on it.

I have an M9
As long as the military uses this handgun, I will have one in my collection.
Oh heck, who am I kidding, even if they dump the M9 I will keep one in my collection.

Got issued the M9 first in 95' and carried the same suppressed M9 in Iraq in 91' and later in 03'.  Never had an issue but I kept my mags clean in the desert.  Got EIC leg points it and hope to continue to get the Distinguished with it on my return home.

Ron, tell your Marines to stop scrubbing the barrels with bore brushes.  CLP has no effect on it.

Marines have a tendency to do that, but the number of tubes I have seen without any finish on them makes me think there is something more to it that that.

Everyone knows yopu can leave an unbreakable rock in the hands of a few Marines and they will come up with a way to break it!

I don't care for the Beretta but I admit that once you dear with the safety and the DA pull the SA shots break clean and recoil lightly.

I'm a fan of it and it's civilian counterpart the 92FS

I liked mine. Ran like hell.
In the end the slide mounted safety just killed if for me.
Put it on the frame or don't have one at all.
Traded it for a G17.

This.  Leave two cannon balls in a padded room with one Marine, one ball will be broken and one will be missing!

It's a good pistol, not my absolute favorite anymore, but I've had nothing by good experiences with them.

The Beretta 92 is so close to being perfect.

But...

Controls on the slide.

Controls backwards.

The decocker sits on safety instead of snapping back up out of place.

And there's that sharp edge on the end of the slide that's given me and at least three other friends a damn appendectomy scar from drawing the thing from concealment.

However it is fun to shoot. I look at carrying a Beretta as being in an arranged marriage. If I were forced into it, I could learn to love it but since there are other options out there, I'd rather go steady with the Austrian girl with the blocky pants.

I have one on long term loan/trade (1989 W German Sig P226)  with a friend of mine. The .mil use cool factor is my favorite thing about it. I also like the history and the impact of the 92 series on small arms development. The 92 series ushered in the era of high cap reliable semi-autos. Also, the M9 has had some really cool film roles such as Die Hard and Lethal Weapon.  The thing is also pretty reliable and durable aside from the occasional locking block breaking.

The 92 is a good pistol as long as your using good magazines. I think its an underrated pistol. I regretfully sold mine to my idiot brother. Whom I told if he ever decided to sell it had to sell it back to me. The fucking loser pawned it I'm 95% sure of. I'm going to bitch slap him the next time I see him.

The early M9's I carried were fitted and finished and shot much nicer than the later production ones I carried.
The M9 does not fit my hands as well as the 1911's I carried previously but once I adapted and learned how to shoot the M9, qualifying expert was about the same. Magazines were a source of problems for a while but no longer since the switch to the slippery Teflon like finish used on the current crop.

My preference is my 1911 but I do trust the M9 to do what it does when needed to do it and am comfortable with it.
