And What is the best type of gun oil? Am I missing anything else?! Do I need this to take my gun apart!? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51u0cRGzvfL._SL500_AA300_.jpg http://www.amazon.com/Wheeler-89-Piece-Deluxe-Gunsmithing-Screwdriver/dp/B001C63M7O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1297629725&sr=8-3 Why isnt there any sticky "guides" on this forum = thanks |

That cleaning kit is a good choice for the MKIII and other future purchases.
Skip the tool set. You can buy a plastic headed mallet as the manual suggests, Amazon's got them too. I disassemble my MKII by simply tapping the rear of the receiver onto the edge of my wooden work bench while holding the grip. Other people put a rag on the floor to tap it loose there. |

Would the cleaning kit you show work? Yes absolutely. That being said I prefer flex cable type of kits made by Otis. Just my personal preference.
When to cleaning a 22? I clean my ruger 22/45 when I start to have malfunctions. What's the "best" oil? Any of them; something you can find locally. They're all pretty good. I've got anything from CLP to Rem oil, and some Mobil 1. You don't need the screwdriver set to clean your pistol; but you will need a plastic head mallett. As for cleaning your 22/45, there's several videos on youtube. I couldn't really follow the written instructions and it's a bit complicated the first couple times you take it down. As far as ammo; mine likes Federal bulk packs from Walmart and CCI mini mags, but didn't like Remington Thunderbolts Make sure it's unloaded! |
