I'm sure this has been covered before, but is there any difference in quality between stainless steel and blued steel magazines for 1911s?  I'm planning on buying a bunch of Chip McCormick mags once I finally get my weapon.  Thanks in advance everybody.

Wilsons are the standard . I have a number of CMC mags that have always worked for me. I really like there 10 rnd mags for IPSC

So I take it the Wilsons are worth the additional $10 per magazine.  Hmmmm.  I've been checking out Midway USA for 1911 mags.  Anybody have any good alternatives?  Where do you like to buy your mags?    Thanks again guys.

    Brownells carries wilson mags.     Check them out at www.brownells.com    Their prices are not too bad either.

Wilsons are great ... I have wanted to try out Chip's PowerMags but I haven't worn out my Wilsons yet.

Anyone that wants to purchase a batch of Wilsons let me know...if there is enough interest, we will get a group purchase going. I think 47D's would be about $20.00 shipped.

Other than the stock mag that came with my Colt, my Wilson's are the only 100% reliable 1911 mag that I have puchased (including 2 CMC's).

Not knocking Wilsons, as they are reputed to be the best, but I use exclusively CMC mags, and they work fine.  Why pay more for something that does the same thing?

If I can get Wilsons for $20 each, I'd definitely be in for at least 5.  Maybe I'll try CMCs while I'm at it...$14 isn't going to bankrupt me or anything.  Keep me informed on the Wilson group buy.  Thanks!

Actually...Tripp's (www.TrippResearch.com) are better BUT they are more expensive and I dont know how much better then the Wilson's you really need.


ETA- If you are a C&R you'll get your mags cheaper then List at Brownells

Saved my bacon a while ago when I couln't get mine to function properly with other mags. Started running Wilson's...not a hiccup since.
