I am looking to replace the rear adjustable sight on my Kimber Target II and I have decided on a Heine because they make a fixed replacement.
I have now run into the dilemma as to what width to buy?
Can anyone explain the the rule of thumb when purchasing pistol sights?
Is the rear notch supposed to be narrower than the front sight?
And if anyone knows of a replacement for the target sight similar to the Ledge style sight by Heine that is a direct fit that would be cool too!

Thanks!

I personally like a wider rear notch that allows plenty of light around the front blade.  This is probably not ideal for target shooting, but I CCW my pistols so I want a system that allows me to quickly find and align the front blade.  That said, I reallly like the XS Big Dot system too.

I've only had 1911's with narrow GI rear notches, .125" notches on Novaks, and .140" U-notch on a 10-8 rear.

The .125" is better for accuracy, but I found the .140" to be slightly faster for my eyes to pick up (i.e. see the front sight faster/easier).

Try to see if 10-8 has something for the Kimber sight cut.

It is a trade off between fast sighting and accuracy.

A narrower notch produces better alignment, but it takes more time to align correctly.
