| I am wanting to purchase one of these but i don't know anyone who has shot one. And i really want a no bullshit review. i know they are expensive but i was also wondering if anyone knows where to get one at a decent price. If anybody has any experience with them please share. |

well if your asking about thier quality. its fine..they seem to be very well made pistols and run fine.
if your asking about the practicality of them.....i dont see much use for one. the round is to underpowered to make a good HD weapon ammo is to pricy to make a good plinker without the military ammo the bullet proof thing is out.. cool but for the price you can get a much more practical pistol...unless you have a spacific use it fills, then by all means go for it |

I like the gun , I like the round.....I love the capacity.......is it practical beyond a range toy I say no but it is a hell of a range toy.
Things I dislike The front sight is too wide- the pistol is accurate as heck but the wide front site limits that accuracy The grip is too deep. The 5.7 is not a short round it has a long overall leanth so the grip of the pistol which holds the mag is too deep- by that I mean it is not to wide or too long top to bottom, but from front to back it is too long for me to comfortably grip - I have average size hands-. I have shot 5 sevens and found them to be fun but over all I would not by one because of the pirce $800 + and the ammo $25 for 50. The ammo is not actually that expensive I drop that regularly on good 357 mag (my prefererred cal) but for that price I would like to get a bullet good for more than punching paper and clays. The 5 sevens I have run have been very good out to 100 yards 50 gal drums are easy to hit, and 8 in gong hits are possible with practice. When it comes down to it I would still rather have a 357 with a 6in barrel for the same $ |

Well, you're correct if you mean that civilians can't purchase SS190 from FN directly but it's not illegal to own it (although it is expensive when you find it) Also, Elite Ammunition sells an SS190 equivalent to civilians called PenetraTOR. As well as other performance 5.7x28mm Subsonic, Tracer, Varmint, etc... You could also just reload it yourself. As for the factory FN ammo that civilians can buy, it's not as good as the LEO SS190 but it's nothing to sneeze at either. SS197 (blue tipped) expands like any other good hollow point and regularly defeats level II BA. SS195 does also. It's not the greatest pistol/round in the world. It's certainly not for everyone. However, it's not the 22 magnum that most people claim it is. OP, if you have the means, I would strongly recommend renting one for yourself. Trust me, you'll be surprised by the accuracy and lack of recoil. After about a year of training with them, my PS90 and FiveseveN have replaced my AK/Glock combo for all things shtf. It's not a popular choice but I'm happy with it. |
| Dont own one, have never shot one but I have a friend that picked one up a few months ago. He is a big time collector and occasional shooter, but he has been shooting the hell out of his FN 5.7 ever since he bought it. The caliber is what it is but as far as the pistol itself goes FN makes quality stuff, I say if you want one buy it. |
