M&P or XD? In .40 or .45 with 3 to 4 inch barrel. Right now i'm leaning towards the M&P only because I already own an M&P 15 MOE 5.56. But this is in no way a dealbreaker for the XD.So what do you think?

I prefer the M&P over the XD. The XD just seems too blocky of a design (ironic since I prefer Glocks over either of them). I'd go shoot and handle both before I made my purchase.

The M&P is the better pistol with a better track record.

i never shot an m&p.  my xd45s have very bulky slides that print substantialy more than any of my other pistols when carried iwb

ETA i actually think my glock 29 has a bulkier slide that prints even more than my xd45, but thats a moot point

This is really a very easy decision. The XD has a very high bore axis and has some reliability issues. The M&P has proven to be reliable and with a trigger job or the Apex Tactical parts the trigger becomes great. Buy the M&P from GandRtactical.com which is $460 - the $50 S&W mail-in-rebate = $410. Grant will also install the DCAEK kit if you choose the option. ;)

M&P .45, no question.

The XD has been surpassed by the M&P on all fronts except magazine capacity.
