I have always wanted a Hi Power and got a email from JG for used Argentine FM 90 hi-power. Right now Iam tight for funds but I do have enough to buy this, with that being said any opinions would be helpful and also can you use regular hi power mags in these? Thanks and here is the link:

Yes, all Hi-Power parts interchange.  They are a good buy.  Finish isn't blued but the are solid hi-powers.  If I bought one I would replace the grips with some wood grips and add some higher capacity magazines and call it good.

I just ordered on of the Very Good ones.... The finish is kinda funky on these... (from the ones I have seen), So I will likely strip it and duracoat it when it comes in anyway.
FM of Argentina  is said to make a good pistol,  I have a Belgium mark III, but it is too pretty for a daily carry gun.... why I bought this one. I'll post up when it comes in.

I did buy one of the FM "detective" kits  (Think kinda like a 1911 commander!),  from Sportsmans Guide when they had 'em, so it will be a natural on this piece!

Will these things handle +P? I am thinking of getting one to beat the hell out of and my one main qualification is that it can handle any 9mm I throw at it including any hot stuff I might find laying around.

If you're going to give it a steady diet of +P, I'd recommend a stronger recoil spring and maybe a polyurethane buffer in the recoil setup. Occasional use is no big deal.

After owning one for a while, they are a solid buy.  That said the first thing one should do is change out springs, Wolff has a service pack for like $15, cheap insurance imo.  The stock springs leave a little bit to be desired.

Did a little work to mine:

Looks really good, did you do the stippling yourself?

I've done some research on these pistols, and discovered the following:

1.  By and large, they are a good buy.  These are not simply a wanna-be version of the Hi-Power...these are actually a licensed copy of the Hi-Power, built in Argentina on FN-provided tooling.

2.  As such, it has the pluses - and the minuses- of the original Hi-Power.  A steady diet of +P ammo is probably not a good idea.

3.  Several of the people who bought guns from this particular J&G batch, complained that the front sight went flying off the gun after shooting just a few mags.  WTF?!?

4.  The finish is so-so.  You eventually may want to have a new finish put on it.

All in all, a good buy.  Considering that these costs about $300, and the original Hi-Power cost $800, these are a bargain.  Especially if you refinsih the gun and give it a trigger job, you will have a damn fine Hi-Power.

Call me a snob, but I just can't accept the fact that they don't have the thin front end like a hi power should.  It looks too much like a 1911 or tokarev with that slide.  I really want a hi power,  I just don't think I could be happy with the FM models.

Any more info on this? source maybe?
That would be a major frustration, but, fwiw, J&G has a 30 day inspection period, and SOG "guaruntees satisfaction".
I certainly wouldn't hesitate to send one back if that happened to me, and I'm pretty confident both those dealers would refund or exchange the pistol.

The SOG's are a different batch likely older guns with finish wear, good guns to modify as I did.  JG guns seem to be like new production and seem to have occurred a hic-up with staking of some of the front sights.  Can be a bad apple in any bunch.

Anyone know whether the ones from SOG or J&G have the old style humped feedramp, or whether they would be more throated? I'm just wondering if they wouldn't feed hollow points well?

I ordered one from southernohiogun.com. When I have some time I will post some pictures and a range report. I want to see if they compare to my father's FN Hi-Power.
