Greetings! New Poster lurking from the shadows

With you  guys High Power experience, what has broken and what spare parts would you keep on hand? I have had a FN for 33 years and a .40 Tactical that has sat NIB(acquired in 1999) but it recently lost its cherry. ;-) The 9mm has had about 2k rounds through it, about half were semi-hot reloads.

I know that some parts interchange but the .40 was a redesigned piece. I haven't experienced any parts breakage but with all the craziness going on I figure better safe than sorry. So, what spare parts would you hold?

The High Power has always been one of my favorites. Pure Sex! I have carried this one and on and off for 33 years. She has sat in the safe for the last couple of years since I had to have her re-finished. The .40 is sexy as well, I just haven't broke this one in yet. Hell, she doesn't have a name yet! ;-)

Thanks for your advise.

Im a Gunsmith, so this is my experience.

BHP RARELY BREAK!, but when they do I have seen broken sear springs (twice), recoil rod and spring (roughly 30 times but it was always the recoil spring), slide stop (one broke, one bent), broken grips (5 times), lost grip screws (blue loctite is your friend), broken ejectors (once), broken extractors (twice).

Most malfunctions were due to worn out mags or CHEAP mags.

Over the years Ive picked up a few parts.  Extractor, ejector, guide rod & spring, firing pin & spring.
Ive never needed any of them yet & mines over 10K rounds. Id rather have them & not need them than need them & not have them.

I rely on the thoughts of Stephen Camp on most things involving High Power pistols.

You should take a look at his blog, especially the page where he addresses the spare parts question: Stephen Camp on BHP Spares

Thank you for the reply's and advice. I will check with Brownells to acquire those recommended. Any advice on the .40, will the mentioned spares work with the .40?
Thanks again!
