Who has them and who has them cheap?

These are the WORST prices I've seen at CDNN for Browning Hi Power factory mags. But those do have the little spring assist on the floorplate. i love CDNN, but they jacked up the price on these in the last month. Midway has MecGar 13 rounders in stock @$26.99 |

Ammoman has these and they work fine. Better than I would have figured. FN PISTOL MAGS. BROWNING HI POWER 100% TRUE FN BROWNING MILITARY CONTRACT 13 ROUND MAGS. 5 MAG MINIMUM ORDER Not FN. Not Browning. Not 100% True FN Browning Typical AMMOMAN bullshit. (He's in the AR15 EE Hall of Shame for a reason) See this thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=39&t=69613 They are Indian Type "R" mags. While they may work, they are NOWHERE close to FN/Browning or MecGar quality. Spend a couple of dollars more and get MecGar. |

Plus the new, extra-expensive Browning factory mags are supposedly made in Portugal, so who knows who's making them now. |

CDNN assumed that since current HP's are "Assembled in Portugal", so are the magazines. Not any more they aren't. I bought one a few weeks back. Previous Browning HP mags came in black and yellow boxes or bubble packs, clearly marked Browning and "Made in Italy." The mags themselves had a patent number, "9mm," and "Made in Italy" stamped on one side. These new mags come in a blue and white FN marked box which says "Made in Portugal." The mags themselves are only marked "9X19mm" on the front. Otherwise they appear the same with a black phosphate finish, plastic follower, blued base plate, and the same 5, 10, and 13 marked witness holes on the back. Besides, HPs have been assembled in Portugal for many years. Why would CDNN suddenly make the assumption that the mags are made there, especially when they previously showed OEM Browning HP mags as made in Italy? But, maybe Mec-Gar set up tooling at the FN assembly plant in Portugal? |

A great Hi Power magazine reference is at http://www.ont.com/users/kolya/bhpmagfaq.htm It needs updating but is still pretty good info. As you can read on there, CDNN has stretched the truth on HP mags before. I really like CDNN, but you still have to be careful when reading their descriptions. Recently I bought several tritium night sights listed as "Factory New SigSauer". When they arrived they were so dim as to be unusable. They had been stamped "2003". When I called CDNN the salesman agreed to do a refund, but wanted to argue that they were indeed "new", since they had never been installed . I asked "...would you consider a head of lettuce as new if it was a year old, but uneaten? Same thing, both have a shelf life".

That's why I bought one, curiosity. CDNN's price was the lowest since the hike a couple months ago, and they listed the Portugal reference. Except for color and markings, the box is exactly the same as the black/yellow boxes Browning OEM HP mags used to come in, the mag was in a plastic baggie wrapped in bubble wrap just like Browning OEM mags used to come, and like I described above, the mag looks just like the Italian made Browning OEM mags except for the markings. Hard to say for sure what rthe deal is, but I suspect FN bought the tooling from Mec-Gar and moved it to their Portugeuse assembly operation. Yeah, I got "got" by them once on New OLD STOCK Siglite sights.
