What kind of mags does this pistol use? I bought it thinking it uses hi power mags, but they are too $hort. Does it use its own special mags or can another mag be modded to fit?
Thanks

I ran into the same problem. I bought 2 Mec-Gar 13 round hi-power mags and they are about 1/4 inch short from the slide being able to chamber the round. It has been a great gun but now I don't know if any mags will fit it. Anyone out there know of any mags that will cycle in the FEG P9R?

This is the double action version, right?

Yes, they use a different mag from standard hi powers.  Made the mistake of buying one for my SA FEG hi power and it didn't work, to long.  They look identical to regular hi power mags but when you stack them side by side the DA version is a bit longer.

Ameshawki, your correct the P9R is the double action version. Anyone have any suggestions of what aftermarket mags fit the FEG P9R.

I'm afraid the only magazines that will work in your full-size double-action F.E.G. are the Factory mags made in Hungary.  They turn up from time to time on Gunbroker, both the original standard capacity 15rd magazines and the 10rd reduced-capacity mags made in the mid-1990's.  The only problem is they look EXACTLY like a Hi-Power magazine but are longer and hold 15rds.  The finish is a very light-gray parkerizing, with a blued baseplate.

Now the real bad news, F.E.G. is now kaput and out of business.  You might want to contact the old importer (K.B.I.) in Harrisburg, PA to see if they still have a few.  Good luck.

Thanks emmetf, I hate that FEG is out of business now. It makes me wish I would have never bought a gun with so few options and availability for aftermarket parts. Oh well, it was my first handgun and thats what I get for being young and stupid!

You will find some originals and aftermarkets for the P9R, P9RK, GKK92 and GKK92C (all the same gun, 5" and 4") on Gunbroker from time to time. A S&W model 59 mag (the model for the P9R) fits the well but the locking slot is on the wrong side. If you're very good you may be able to cut another locking slot on the other side and the mag will work. The problem is everybody and their brother advertises these guns as 'Hi Powers' and they are not.

I had one of these and used a S&W 59 mag. You will have to carefuly cut the locking slot, but it will work fine.

Update: I was looking through my Midway USA catalogue and I actually found the mags that fit the P9R. Pro-Mag sells them and they are specifically made for the FEG P9R. They are only in 10 round capacity though but I am not complaining. Later when I get home I will post the part number item code so everyone can order if they wish.

What did you get for it if you don't mind me asking? I am thinking of selling mine for a 9mm brand that is more supported.
