| I have an HK USP in .40 that I am seriously considering trading or selling to get a Hi Power pistol..........fired one and really like it alot. Does anyone here have a .40 BHP? which one would you go with? and obviously I am going to get a biased answer( which is ok), but would you go with a BHP over a USP? It's calling my name, and it's the SFS version and it's 499.99 new..........seriously considering it |

The only flaw I se in the plan is the trading.Keep the USP and get the BHP! I don't have any experience with the SFS version, but I do have a Hi-Power Practical with the target sights and da pimp gold trigger, and I'm happy as could be with it. Planning to get a Mk III at some point as well, but I do wish they'd bump the capacity like MecGar did with the 9mm. Get the HP. You'll be glad you did. |
Well, I would keep it, but financially it's not an option............and I am trying to standardize calibers, so 9mm and .45 are the rounds I am going to go with. 40 is a great round, but the mags for the USP are expensive, and since money is tight for me, one has to go to finance the other.......

I would not buy an SFS Hi-Power, and definately wouldn't get a HP in .40. The SFS system accomplishes only the illusion that you don't have a cocked and locked single action pistol in your waistband. It is no less "cocked and locked" than a standard single action pistol. Get yourself a 9mm Hi-Power with the standard single action parts! .40 S&W doesn't belong in a BHP and SFS is retarded! (of course that's only my opinion) |

BUY THAT GUN. I'll be the one to chime in in favor of the SFS system. I'm a traditionalist and love blued steel and real wood guns. I too, retched at the thought of some sissification of my beloved Hi Power with this weenie teeny tiny hammer SFS gizmo. The great majority of folks who have something negative to say have never owned or shot an HP in .40 or with SFS. they just don't like the "idea". I only bought my first 9mm FN Hi Power with SFS because it was priced at $369 NIB. Figuring that replacing the SFS with standard parts would run less than $80 I still had a bargain. After trying out the SFS HP at the range I went back to that dealer at the next gunshow and bought his last two SFS HP's. That was a year ago last spring. My buddies that derided the SFS as "a solution looking for a problem" changed their tune after using it. It is practical, reliable, and if it's not your cup of tea, can easily be replaced with standard parts for very little $$$. For officers who's department requires "hammer down" or DA autos it fits that quite well. Those of us that bought those $369 SFS Hi Powers are now getting offers of $550 and up for a gun that "you'll never be able to sell"to quote a friend. He now is officially an idiot in his own words because he didn't think about replacing the parts. He did wise up and found a HP SFS in .40, which he now loves. He bought the parts to swap out the SFS but has yet to install them. Like me he feels better prepared carrying the HP SFS as his CC weapon. While the .40 HP is not as graceful as the 9mm (in the eyes of us Browning traditionalists) it WOULD be my first choice for a .40 If you want to shoot 9mm through it you can easily find drop in barrels with the extra lug (9mm has two, .40 has three) to fit the .40 slide. |
I agree with this. My BHP is 9mm, my Fullsize USP was .40. I say "was" because I didn't care to shoot my USP much after I got the HiPower and I sold it. If I were to buy another .40, which I most likely won't, it will be another HiPower I don't have any experience with the SFS, so I can't fairly comment on it, but I like the action of the HiPower the way it was designed (minus the mag safety which I keep in a ziplock, rather than in the gun). |

Well, I went and got a BHP today........local funstore didnt have any SFS ones, and the only .40 they had was sold as I was walking up to look.........but I did score a really nice 9mm FN HP today for a shade over 420 nib. I think I am really gonna like it alot........ |
