Could the "...SACCO..." on the butt be "SAC CA" ? There have been other firearms imported by a NHM Co. out of Sacramento, California. What are the first four or five serial numbers on the frame? And where are they located? (in front of grip frame?) FN has no rhyme or reason on serial numbers. They will slap any series of numbers on a pistol to make the sale. Most of the Browning imported HP's follow a system (look under "services" on the Browning website), but if you are the Republic of Congosylvania they will happily provide you with any range of serial numbers you want. Over the years there have been new HP's imported by companies other than Browning. I believe almost all of the long slide "competition" models were imported by Cassi of Colorado Springs. I believe since 1968 the BATFE has required the name of the importer to be stamped on the frame. That NHM SACCO is more than likely the importer. If that is so the serial number database on the Browning website may not be accurate for your HP. could you take a photo from a little further back so I could see what f&r sights are on it? Thanks! |
I will get a better slide picture up for you tonight also , but dollors to donughts says they are not factory . PS Thank you for all your help . :) |

Looks like you got a pretty good deal! How is the slide to frame play? Has the magazine safety been removed? It would appear so as there are some markings in that area. Is the front sight dove tailed? The only thing I would change would be to add a factory extended safety. I have the normal sized safety on one of my Hi Powers and I hate it. |
I've got a few of the factory ambidextrious safeties (new). I'll be out of town until Friday- if you interested in a set let me know. I only have them in matte finish $52.00 includes shipping. |
Actually I think seeing as it has been monkeyed with and it has some markings in the finish anyway I don't think I would destroy any collector value by re doing some things . I am thinking do it in Hi Gloss Duracoat and than swap out the hammer ,trigger and safety for the C&S in Hard Chrome . Slap on some night sights and it should look as sweet as it shoots when all is said and done . I am just torn on Nice wood grips or these buffalo horn ones I found .Course I could always sweet talk a buddy into doing up a set of Walrus Ivory for me also . |

OK . Does any one know what size the roll pin in the slide to hold the extractor is supossed to be or the size of the roll pin in the side of the slide . After looking at it these are hand made pins and one is the wrong size for sure the other looks like crap . |
