| Went to my local browning dealer for a Standard Hi Power with the new adjustable site. They tell me that it won't be available in our area (MD) until after Dec. What is up with that? |
|
IMHO Browning is selling only what they have left in stock. I don't believe that when December comes around that anything will happen. I hope you didn't put a deposit down because your money is just going to sit for nothing. Get your money back. You'd be better off looking at GunsAmerica or some other classifieds for what you're looking for. You'll find it and probably at a better price. FN is supposed to be still making them for Browning but I think that the run is about over. The costs to produce the HP and in small volumn is not worth it to FN and would mean Browning would be selling their pistols at very high prices! Good Luck RC Just happened to be looking at GunsAmerica and found this HP for sale. Click on this link to see it! HiPower w/adj sights |
![]() Are you saying that production is going down and prices are going up? |
| I would agree with the price going up part. The price quoted was almost $900. It is basically the MSRP from the Browning web page. Not sure about them not producing them. From the picture in the catalog they have made a change to the adjustable sight this year. It looks like it is trying to be more Novak like. Why would they advertise it if they hadn't worked out a deal to get them. |
Dear god, why would you pay MSRP? There are literally millions of Hi-powers floating around. Keep looking on Gunbroker, Gunsamerica and the EE. You should be able to find a like new FN/Browning for $400-500. A year ago you could have had a NIB FN polished blue/walnut one for $450 from CDNN. |

SAGRP: Is this the model your trying to buy? It's a shame that Browning is not making these available to the public. This is a model I would be very interested in accruing. http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/itemdetails.asp?value=007B&cat_id=051&type_id=003&item=051004493 |
Several months ago on another forum for HiPower fans, one of the moderators started a thread for a group buy. The idea was a big hit for quite a few members and verbal commitments were made for the buy (between 50 and 100 pistols I estimate). It was of course understood that this was just an attempt to buy a basic HiPower with certain mods. Long story short Browning was sent a proposal for the group with the backing of the forum as credible, but non the less was not interested in the venture. This may mean nothing or it may mean everything. RC |
