My wife and I where at a pistol class recently and we each fired 800 rounds. The wife was shooting her Belgian made, Mark III Hi-power. After about 500 rounds, the trigger retaining pin started to work its way out the left side of the frame. I would just tap it back down with a plastic tipped gunsmith hammer, but every 50 rounds or so, it would work itself out. Any thoughts on a remedy?

They are uncommon, but once in a while you'll hear about one. Solution tap it out a little from the right side then add a small amount of "Locktite" (just a dab) on the left side and tap it back in. Should eliminate the "walking" problem. Funny thing is that you'll hear members swearing at that pin on the newer model MLIII's when they want to tap it out and in won't budge to save their sole (when they want to remove the mag disconnect).

Isn't there a groove on the trigger pin that the trigger spring should be sitting in it?

Yes, and here it is.  Make sure the pistol is assembled properly or that the spring and groove interface correctly.

i've had the same issue, but didn't do anything about it for 1 1/2 years while the BHP sat in the drawer....last week i ordered a trigger spring and trigger pin about $5 each from Brownells and installed it yesterday....i measured old and new pin with dial caliper...new one was about .001 inch larger in diameter than the old one and the new trigger pin was very tough to tap in place with a nylon punch (yeah..that's the end of that punch)...i also center punched the trigger pin and pin holding the trigger spring in place (sorry..don't know the formal part name)...the new trigger pin won't go anywhere for a longgggg time

p.s. be patient removing/reinstalling the trigger assembly...there's only one way that it will remove/reinstall, and i got lucky after a few minutes each time, but i couldn't begin to explain how it was done

p.p.s.  as shown in the photo, the trigger pin rests on (over) the trigger spring

I just noticed mine was coming out too!  I tapped it back in and I am going to put 100 rds through it to see if it is still doing it.
