Hi!

How are MegGar H/P 13 round magazines?  Do they have "round counting/witness holes" in them?

Also, what do you think about "Asian military contract magazines" and do they come with "round counting/witness holes" too.

Thanks!!

I've gotten rid of all my Mec-Gars (because they went with guns I've sold), but I never had a problem with any of them.  They all appeared to be quality made mags.  Mine had 3 witness holes in the back, IIRC.  Of course, others may have had problems with these, but I did not.

I have not used the Asian contract mags, so I can't comment on them.

I have several dozen of the mecgar 13 and 15 round mags and all have worked flawlessly.  mecgar makes the "OEM" FN/browning mags and has for many years (as they have for a lot of other brand name guns).   I do not have any of the asian contract mags so cant assess them.  As with any mag, test it thoroughly if its for carry / defense - and with the ammo you'll use.   I have many mags, but the only ones I carry are either OEM marked or mecgar (and are tested first).  And yes, mecgars have 3 round counting holes on the side.

you cant go wrong with the "Mecgar" magazines, the mag bodies are made of high carbon heat treated steel and the mag springs are of the best quality, very reliable mags.

I have used Mec-Gar mags in several different pistols in various calibers.  They have all been great.  Watch-Six

I just ordered a bunch of NIW factory 13 rd. Browning mags from CDNN.  They are not marked at all, though they look exactly like all the Mec-Gars, minus the high polish blue.  I wish I would have just ordered some Mec-Gars and saved a few bucks.

When factory Browning mags were hard to find, I bought a bunch of Mec-Gars.  They are the only non-factory mag I will buy.

Other than GWC3, who else has used the 15 rd. MegGars? I want to get several but only if they work as well as the 13 rounders. What about the base plates? Do they fit flush? (Needless to say, I have seen no pics)

Thanks

15 rounders fit flush.  the difference is in the follower.  The 13 rounders have "feet" that the 15 rounders don't.  This allows the spring to be compressed further getting 15 rounds in.   Not sure, but I think the springs are the same as well as the mag body and base plate.   Having said that, I'll disassemble a few to check (been a while since I have).
