the coating of the pistol, what is it? how durable is it?, how well does the 40s&w frame hold up comparied to the 9mm, also has anyone heard of the mag disconnect breaking or causeing someone to die because of it?

The .40 frame probably hasn't been tested enough by shooters to really determine where its breaking point is & how it compares to their 9mm, IMO.

As for the coating, which finish are you referring to?

As for the mag disconnect, that's usually the first thing a gun owner has removed. I know I did.

The reason all Hi Powers now have the stronger cast frame instead of the earlier forged frame is because of the 40 S&W.  The 40 also has a heavier slide and much stronger recoil spring and a barrel with 3 locking lugs instead of the 2 of the 9mm.
