I just purchased an Argentina FN HP , but seeing as I live in CT we can no longer purchase mags over 10 rds, so I couldnt have the HIGH CAPACITY mags that were with the pistol. I have found some 10 rd mags but I'm still waiting for them to be delivered, so for now I don't have any mags.
My question is; how can I drop the hammer without a mag? Or is this not possible? |

The BHP has a magazine disconnect safety, so you will need a mag to drop the hammer. The safety is easy to remove and, in doing so, it lightens the trigger pull. Just Google "Removing the BHP mag safety" and you will find instructions on how to do it...... Thanks a lot. Yea this is my first HP, so I didnt know if there was ANY way to drop the hammer without the mag, so this could help! Is it adviseable to remove the mag safety? Does it compromise anything in doing so? |

Well that was a hole bunch of BS.
My disconnect won't come out following these instructions. So I tried taking the trigger assembly roll pin out.... So now the pin is ugly as hell and the finish around the pin is all marred up. And I never did get the pin out just barely pushed it in. So I ended up knocking it back into place and put the gun back together. No mod for me and now I have an ugly pistol lol. Oh well. |

If you unable to remove the trigger assembly, and still have the mag safety in place. Then after making sure the chamber is empty, stick your middle finger in the magwell and press on the plunger part of the mag safety, while pressing the trigger and having your thumb on the hammer, the hammer should fall first to half cock, then fully down. |

Well, not necessarily 100% BS, but it's a fact that some mag safeties won't come out like shown in the video, the safety won't come out thru the hole in the frame as shown. Mostly the latter guns, if'n I recall correctly. You end up removing the trigger assembly to get it out. And, trigger pins can be tough as well, although generally the roll pins should be a bit easier. If you have access to a drill press, you can chuck up a punch, and use the down leverage of the spindle to press the pin out. They're supposed to go out from right to left, although there is some disagreement about the correct direction. Douse the pin with Kroil or some other penetrating oil and let it sit overnight first. Can't hurt. And do use a properly sized punch. |
