I recently had some work done to my HiPower and added some VZ Gunner Grips. I totally love them but they are loose. They are cranked all the way down with the stock flat head screws.  I fear I will crack the G-10 if I screw them tighter.  Anybody have this issue?  I'm looking to buy new screws with maybe a hex head. Thanks.

Some panels just need to be fitted, as it seems the grip on bhp's vary a touch

Any suggestions?

I would call VZ and ask for their recommendation.  I've read where some companies suggest enlarging the hole in the grip, while others say adjust by removing material from the ledges.  The grip needs to fit right/snug in the frame or else the panel will rock/move no matter how tight you've cranked down the screw.

I have VZ's on 2 HP's.

Both needed to have the thicker part of the grip at the rear sanded down to make them sit flush.

I taped a piece of sandpaper to a small board to keep it flat and kept pressure directly over the area I wanted to thin down so it wouldn't roll and round out the edges.
I also rounded off the sharp corners on the front of the grips at the top and bottom to mitigate the risk of any snags.

Blue loctite on the grip screws and you're done.  Both pairs now hold firm and there is no play.

ETA - remember to sand a little and check the fit as you go.  You can't put material back.

I love these grips, but totally disappointed with VZ Grips. When I buy a product, I expect it to work as advertised. I don't buy Magpul furniture for ARs and then have to tweak them to fit my rifles. I'm going to fire off a letter to their customer service dept, even though I have a suspicion they are aware of this already.

I have several hi powers.  They all wear very nice after-market grips.  All required fitting to the frame (10 minutes with a small file) , thats just how they are.

I bought as set of Navidrex Hi Power Grips.  From what I have been told and experienced with my FEG Hi Power, is that there is slight variations of gun frame, in combination with the fact that the grip to frame interface is angled and not flat, that necessitates the fitting.  This may seem worse to those familiar with 1911s, who have a smooth flat interface and 2 screws to tighten the grips down.

Based on this, I believe the issues is as much the design of the gun frame as it is the manufacturer of the grips.

I'm not standing up for VZ particularly--I own none and am not affiliated.  Perhaps take this into consideration as you proceed.  They might offer to take them back or discount them if you are not too adversarial in your approach.

FWIW, a pair of Herrett's fit my HP with no fitting whatsoever. Guess I got lucky.
