With the beta testing of the Warner TR sears over, I have looked at the BHP with a new eye. One of the things I wanted to do was come up with a new Frontstrap treatment when checkering was not an option. Stippling is fine, but I wanted something new...........with a highcut

Your opinions are welcome......

Would it be legal to relocate the S/N?  The work is beautiful, but the S/N is a real distraction for me.

I like the look. Does it stick a sweaty hand?

I like that a lot.  But I think I'd have put a border around the serial number to hold the checkering/stippling/whatever away from the numbers.

The serial number can't be relocated. There are exceptions, but I wont go there. Its not real grippy, but it does provide addittional grip. Its as much cosmetic as anything.

I wanted an alternative fo my customers, something beyond stippling.

I have stippling on my BHP and if I had a choice I would take your solution in a heartbeat.

Great work!

The biggest flaw in the BHP in my hands, though, is the lack of a beavertail.  The cost of getting one installed is a stumbling block for me, but it sure would improve the handling of the pistol in my opinion.

I have an aggressively stippled 1911, soft stippling on a BHP, and a 25 lpi checkered 1911.  Of these I prefer the aggressive stippling.  It really anchors the pistol.  My preference aside, I think the folks at VZ grips have shown us that many shooters want something that sticks in their hand.

(isn't that supposed to be '245' at the beginning of the S/N?)

Yes. Next time I will just photoshop the whole numbe out. Every thread I posted this on , someone has to complete the number. I left part of it there for Illustrative puposes. I have always photoshopped the numbers out as much as possible, as do most other professionals.

I appreciate the help

Now corrected. This was to illustrate a frontstrap treatment, not fill in the blanks and publish them.

Thanks for the compliments and looking guys.

Very nice job.

The textured tape I put on my BHP is a brutal solution but works perfectly well.  It still looks like hell and now looks even worse after seeing your photographs.

Thank you.  I was asked by e mail if it will go over stippling....

Yes, it will.

Could you please fill in the reference to these sears for us BHP fans who missed the story or link?

Thanks.

That's a pleasant and beautiful alternative to front stippling which I've never been fond of. And the way you went around the s/n is fine that's how even the factory engravers work the s/n was never repositioned.

Yes. I have developed a True Radius sear that greatly improves the ability to get a good trigger job..
This is probably the most informative hammer sear thread on the net....

You could try the Kydex one for cheap before you buy the custom work.

Yeah apparently a lot of people don't. I read it in Mr. Camp's book and contacted the maker to ask some questions. I thought about buying one and stipling the kydex with a wood burner so I wouldn't have to keep replacing my grip tape.

If you buy it take pictures and let me know how it goes.

I didn't know about that and I also didn't know that Jim Garthwaite makes a rail for the Hi Power.

Mr. Camp posted some earlier this year before he passed.

Bradd...I didn't know about that rail either. Guess there's that and the C&S option now. Sweet.

That stuff would probably be a fine topic for a different thread. I was hoping to get a feel as to whether I should offer this or not.

Yes, offer it.

It is a viable alternative to stippling and it looks snazzy.

What does it look like blued?

Nice work, but I would choose stippling over this.  The stippling looks better to me and I think it would provide a better grip.

Same here. But I'm sure other customers will like it. I'm just a function over form person. It's a nice look for people who want nice looking things.

I like that a lot and much more then stippling. It would look even better on my FN_HP because on mine, the serial # is on the side, not the front strap
